RE: Sky Plus to DVD

Hi mate, I`ve got Sky+ myself, and use a Panasonic DMR EH50, its a DVD recorder with 80gb hard drive. The picture quality is stunning recording from the SKY+ box with no discernable loss of quality. All that you need is a good quality scart lead to connect the two.

I recommend copying the required programme direct to the Panasonic`s hard drive then editing them to remove umwanted bits (it`s very easy to do), then your edited video can be copied directly on to a blank DVD disc, DVD -R, or DVD -RW discs. I find the -R (write once) plays in most machines including my pc.

RE: Video_TS files

Thanks DVD novice, I dont have a DVD ram drive on my pc unfortunately, but thanks for the tip.

RE: Video_TS files

Thanks for the tips (Emily Howard). I have had a look at the site for TMPGEnc DVD Author. I will try the free trial download later this week.

What I was looking for (and hope this software will do the trick) is to be able to import some of my favourite scenes footage from the DVD, into Windows Movie Maker, so that it will play in Windows Media Player or other movie players, such as Win DVD 6.

Thanks.

RE: Sky Plus to DVD

Hello mate, I thought your answer to the SKY+ question was excellent.
You mentioned about editing. Do you know of any way to edit the "BUP" and "VOB" files that are created on a DVD from a recorded programme?

I have tried copying the contents of my recorded disc on to my PC successfully. However using Windows Movie maker 2 and Win DVD creator 2 I have not been able to import any of the files from the Video_TS folder. Any ideas on any software that will allow me to do this?

Thanks.

RE: Sky Plus to DVD

Hello mate,
I have successfully used my Panasonic HDD/DVD recorder (model DMR EH50) to record from my SKY+ box. It really is as simple as connecting a good quality scart lead from your SKY+ box (from the "VCR SCART" input) to the input on the Panasonic box.
Once you have the right channel input selected on the Panasonic (in my case AV2) then you wll be able to copy either directly over to the hard drive or direct to the blank DVD disc.
If I need to do editing, then I will copy to the HDD on the panasonic, where editing is a breeze.
I`d definitely recommend the panasonic. It cost me £380 down Tottenham court road, London. Its a great machine as it records to the +R, -R, and -RW formats. (It reads from +RW but unforunately does not write to those discs).

Video_TS files

:/
Does anyone know how to edit the files from a DVD? I have copied programmes on to a DVD using my Panasonic HDD/DVD recorder (DMR-EH50).

I have then copied the DVD disc onto my PC`s hard drive. When I use either Windows Movie maker or Win DVD creator 2, I am not able to import the various "BUP" and "VOB" files for editing.

Is there any other DVD software package that I shoud be using to import and edit?

Help please.

RE: Philips DVDR890 recorder working with Aiwa XD-DV370 player?

Thanks mate. Have you actually used the disc on the Aiwa player though? I`m thinking of buying the Philips DVDR890 for Xmas, any comments on how it works for you so far?
Also is the Philips region free or hackable?

Philips DVDR890 and AiwaXD-DV370

Does anybody know if dvd discs burned on the Philips recorder will work on the Aiwa XD-DV370?

Aiwa DV370 (Silver)

I am thinking of buying the Aiwa 370, as recommended by Jimbo and Vinbot. Does anyone know where on-line I can purchase it? I know that Richer Sounds sell it for £199 in shop. However I believe Jimbo mentioned it might be much cheaper on-line.

Samsung SV-DVD1E (DVD and Video combo)

Just saw this machine to-day in Tottenham Court Rd, London, priced £389.00. Has anyone got one yet? What is the picture etc quality like. My partner has the Aiwa 370 (rocks etc!!), its very good except for the handset (hate where the enter button is located).
I wonder how this compares to the Aiwa?
