RE: HELP WANTED!!! DVD Player (LG RC68223) won`t read any DVDs only CDs

Since the warranty still was valid it went to service and without any cost!

It turned out they changed the whole dvd unit and the test after was ok!

So something was definetly wrong with the dvd unit since they chaged it!

Hopefully I will recieve it tomorrow or the day after.

HELP WANTED!!! DVD Player (LG RC68223) won`t read any DVDs only CDs

Bought it nearly 3 years ago and just this morning after recoding during night I wanted to set on the player. I just hitted the eject button instead, no problem I just press that again to pop in the dvd, but instead of playing it it said: "Unrecognized dvd please chech the disk" (or similar, cause it was in Swedish).

First time it happens!

And it won`t recognize any other dvd (bought dvd, region 1 or 2, home made dvd, dvd-r, dvd-rw any of them)

Could it be so that the laser is boken, the one for playing dvds, cause their is one other I think, for playing cds, and it plays them fine!

But imagine I just like 7 hours ago recorded during night 2 hours and in the morning just did as mentioned above and boom, now it won`t recogineze any DVD! (How strange is that???)

Now I`ve only unpluged it and leaving it to reset itself to factory seetings, how long does it usually takes? Maybe it will recover, who knows?

If you have any experience of similar accidents or any suggestions just write back!!! Because I love this dvd-recorder so much, it`s brilliant, but not any longer.

Tv won`t startup. Sony, KV-25C1E

Have an about 8 year old TV, and for the first time it won`t stratup. When you expect to see the picture it just goes off.

The problem is following: (from: http://www.euras.com/repair_tips_1/sony/KV25C1E/KV25C1E_Sony.htm) No start-up. LED flashes twice.

Anyone knows what is the couse of this problem. Obviously some component is not working, but which could it be?

Please shine some light on this question of mine!

Have multiregion hack for LG RC68223, is there more to hack for this model (Like macrovision, etc)?

Have the multiregion hack for LG RC68223 (Combi dvd/VHS player). But I`m curious if there is more to hack for this model. Like macrovision disableing or beeing able to play divx, xvid or MPG4-discs etc. Is there a firmware upgrade available? :/

I`m asking for this, because this player can play most discs but not the above mentioned (like xvid, divx or MPEG4).

Anyone who has any knowledge about this just post your thoughts! :D

RE: Need some info about the heads in a vcr

Yes the tracking is auto on the new, at least when you play a tape for the first time (meaning putting in and press play, not playing one that already in there).

Then you can also manually adjust the tracking on the new one.

The tracking is fine also on the old one.

So tapes recorded on old vcr plays fine on old, but not on the new. Tapes recorded on new plays fine on the new.

Need some info about the heads in a vcr

I would like to know more about the heads in a vcr.

Mainly because I`ve got some recordings on an old vcr with 4 heads. Now I got a newre one with 6 heads and the picture on the old tapes is not good!

It is fine except a thick white-gey line that is showing and going slowly up/down, plus the picture is not completely still. (the line looks like a bit from the picture you get when you play a tape and it comes to the end of a recording (not end of tape) and there is another recording `underneath` . Like you `overtape` something, not completelly and then after watching it you come to the `old` recording. But befor showing the `old` recording you see this black/whit/grey picture. Thats the picture the line looks like. [If you know what I mean])

I think and correct me if my thought are wrong (if your absolutely shoure). My theory is that the 4 (out of 6) heads are displaying a correct picture and the 5th and 6th are cousing the line because it was recorded in a vcr with only 4 heads. [The 5th and 6th head has `nothing` to display, displying the `line`].

Also I will to know if a vcr with more heads gives a better picture.

Hope you have som answeres to me.

RE: Can`t get any video tape inside the VCR (Sony SLV E700)?

Nothing seems to work!

Not threading the tape (which I didn`t find that easy to be done, and not sure I got it right to 100 %, maybe 99 % at the top). Fiddling with the tray didn`t work either.

So I must leavit to some professional to fix it. Luckily i have a service point that are authorized for this brand (Sony among others) near where I live.

So I thank you for you`re advises but I leave it to the experts now!

RE: Can`t get any video tape inside the VCR (Sony SLV E700)?

There also seems to be a power problem. Not everytime when I plug in the vcr there seems to be power going through. Like I said before it was a suprise to see it `alive` when I plugged it in after a near year.

For the moment no power is going through. So it`s more a chance to have the power going through evertime I plug in it.

Can`t get any video tape inside the VCR (Sony SLV E700)?

Bought a year ago new dvd and unpluged my old VCR (Sony SLV E700). Realised later that I forgot to take out a tape from that VCR, so I pluged it in again. Only now no power got through, it was like dead. So I unscrewed it and manually got the tape out.

Now (about a year later) I tried to plug in the old vcr again. And suprise suprise it is working :D , but with one foult (major!) . It thinks that the tape I got out earlier manually still is in there and when I try to pull in a new tape it doesn`t take it in. :(

Also it gives me an error code when I try to prees a button (play stop rewind eject etc.): L:07:12 And it displays that a tape is inside but it`s not! >:(

The code means "Cass load inop". By that it means that the video tries to alternately eject & load empty tray (with no tape in it)

It would mean so much to me if someone could explain what to do and if I could fix it in someway myself or If should I go to some service point so they can fix it?

All Ideas are welcome, especially from those who had or has the video model mentioned above. :D

Thinking of buying GeForce4 MX4000 AGP 64MB graphic card

Full description found here:

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/pcsound/mx4000t64.html

I want to buy it, to watch my dvd`s from my LG RC68223 player on to my computer. I know that this card has S-video out (TV-out).
My question is: could I connect the dvd-player to the Card on my computer (via S-Video)and then on my Computer screen (LCD-screen) to see the dvd`s. (The card has TV out, not TV in) so I`m wondering. :/

The price is not so high, that is also why I think I want to buy it. :D

RE: DVD`s in NTSC won`t play as smooth as in PAL because of the difference in FPS

Problem is now fixed. :D

The scart doesn`t support NTSC, and you can`t change it`s settings.
And since only S-video and (yellow, video and white & red, audio) inputs support NTSC on TV. And the dvd only has S-video, the sollution was to buy a high grade S-video cable. Now the picture is smooth and follows the sound. :D

RE: DVD`s in NTSC won`t play as smooth as in PAL because of the difference in FPS

The picture from the NTSC DVD is fine, only it is slow sometimes, like it can`t follow the high frame rate, like it skips some frames to be in sync with the sound.

In my manual it says as follow:

Color-TV-System: PAL, SECAM
NTSC 3.58/4.43 (Video input ONLY)
The TV has following outputs to the screen (you select which picture you want to see):
1. SCART
2. RGB-signals through SCART (audio/video)
3. S-Video through SCART
4. Audio/Video through Video input with phonojack
5. S-Video through Video input with 4-Din Contact

TV inputs:
2 Scart on back
1 S-video on front (4 Din contact)
1 video/audio input (yellow (picture) white & red for the sound)

The NTSC is on the video inputs only, so how do I connect that the picture comes from the video inputs, based on the description above??? :/
Maybe I should use S-Video out from DVD and S-video in to the TV???

Please help me!!!

RE: DVD`s in NTSC won`t play as smooth as in PAL because of the difference in FPS

The player can play both PAL and NTSC, but the TV can`t.

You see it`s 50Hz, which is ok for PAL 50 dvd`s but not NTSC, since they are 60Hz.

Only solution for me to either by new TV or a new cable, so I can watch the NTSC disks on my computer (which is better than my TV, due to that it is a LCD screen).

I will go for buying the cable, since my tv is not so old to be renewed and it`s cheaper to by the cable. ;)

Good solution or not???

DVD`s in NTSC won`t play as smooth as in PAL because of the difference in FPS

When I play a dvd that has 24 or 25 FPS (PAL) then the picture is smooth. When I play another that has 29 FPS (NTSC) the the picture is a bit slow now and then.

Is it the DVD`s fault or my TV`s???

It doesn`t bother me, but I would like to know what could be done to fix this happening.

Note: FPS = Frames Per Second, for those who doesn`t know.

TV: Sony KV-25C1E
DVD: LG RC-68223

Latest firmware for LG RC-68223 VHS/DVD Combo???

What is the latest firmware to LG RC-68223 VHS/DVD Combo? And how do I get it.

The firmware could also be for RC-6800 or RC-1000 (Region hacks for those 2 models worked for RC-68223).

VHS tapes recorded in old player won`t play good in LG RC-68223 DVD/VHS Combo

I have recently bought LG RC-68223 VHS/DVD Combo. Before I had only VHS player (Sony SLV-E700, If anyone knows this model, 7-8 years old) and now when I tried to play the tapes recorded in old player, they got a wide white line through the picture and the picture is a bit jumpy. Plus the sound sounds like mono, instead of stereo. :(

The weird thing is that tapes made in SP plays normaly (good picture, could be better) it only affects tapes recorded in LP (Which are the most I have). Plus bought tapes also plays correctly (maybe because they also recorded in SP). Could anyone tell me whats wrong? :/

New DVD/VHS player: LG RC-68223 (similar to RC-6800).
Old VHS player: Sony SLV-E700
TV: Sony KV-25C1E (about as old as the video above), conected to new player through scart cable (no other connection possible).

Please, if anyone knows anything, please help me!!!

RE: LG (DVD Combo) RC-68223 Region hack, please (Found hack for LG DVD Combo RC6800, could that work

No, I don`t need a CD, the hack for LG RC-6800 and the same for LG RC-1000 in this forum worked for me!

RE: LG RC6800 Code free tip for DVD-VHS Player/Recorder combo

Tested on LG RC68223 DVD-VHS Combo and it works! ;)

Urgent! Need hack for LG RC68223 DVD/VHS Combo, maybe hack for similar model will work just as well?

Just ordered the player because the price was just right! And also two players in one (VHS and DVD player/recorder).

But it can`t play multi regional discs, just region 2.

Someone got a hack for it? Or maybe similar model (older model of the same player) that will work. (Have seen hack for LG RC6800 and RC1000, same hack for both, could possibly that hack work for my ordered model?)

Please, if someone could answer my questions. :)
