RE: ssshhh! ebay / paypal query...

Just thought i`d post a link to the e-bay annoucements section. It seems that feedback will only be removed if they get NARU`d within 90days of registering.

HTH.......

E-bay Annoucements section

EDIT: You need to scroll down about half way to annoucement on 20th Sept....

RE: ssshhh! ebay / paypal query...

I think e-bay have fairly recently changed ther policy on Feedback in that if they Neg you and then get NARU`d, the Feedback they leave you IS removed regardless if whether it is good or bad. I got a message through e-bay recently as i purchased successfully from somebody who got suspended and sure enough the Positive they left me was taken away.

I think it only effects transactions in the 90 days leading upto suspension......

RE: Sat Nav on mobile phone problems (tomtom mobile)

Just to confirm that when you say the phone becomes paired do you mean that you can simply pair with the device or that the TomTom software finds the GPS recevier ok?

Different things altogether. I was able to pair successfully but TomTom couldn`t `see` the receiver. Re-installing several times made no difference, but did a full format using the phones built in function and re-installed and worked first time.

Bare in mind that it can take `upto` 40 mins to get a lock for the first time ever. Mine took about 20 mins.

RE: Who do you use for car insurance?? cheapies please

www.privilege.com always seem to come up with the Goods for me and www.churchill.co.uk for the missus.

Gadget-Asia.com

Anyone heard of www.gadget-asia.com?

Looking for a PSP but UK companies are much more expensive. Wondered if somebody could perhaps recommend the above (seems fairly failsafe with regards to Duty etc) or an alternative reliable source?

Cheers.

RE: GPS Speed Camera Detector under £80 at Woolies

I think you`ll also find that a fairly common reason for people failing their Driving Test is for:-

Quote:
- failing to make progress (particularly in dual-carriageways and motorways) when safe and proper to do so

This doesnt mean driving permenantly on the Speed limit, but doing 50mph on a Dual Carriageway with an open road in front of you would certainly be a fail! (or at least a couple of faults for totting up!)

RE: Is Sky+ worth the money

couldnt live without it now!

Just out of interest what does Sky + 160 offer over normal other than bigger hard dive?

I got normal sky+ and threw a 160 GB maxtor in for about 45-50 quid about 6 months ago. 160 was £399 at the time! :o

RE: I need a new CPU and need your expert advice!

Chap at work picked this up this morning. Spec seems quite good for the money???? (no monitor though)

Never heard or `Targa` and the Hard Drive Cache is only 2Mb but seems very reasonable. Dell dont seem to get near for this spec. (although prepared to be proved wrong!)

http://www.lidl.co.uk/gb/index.nsf/pages/c.o.oow.20050331.p.Targa_NV_2600

17inch TFT can also be had for 149 odd quid.

RE: Speeding Ticket - Should I accept fixed penalty or go to Court?

i wouldnt worry about your insurance with an SP30. I had 2x Sp30 which had no impact on my premium. Thought i may have been `had` again just before they dropped off so did some online quote with 3 x Sp30s but price still unchanged.

All clean for the time being though! :D

Mate of mine got caught running a red light on his motorbike and got 3 points, his Insurance rocketed at renewal.

RE: Speeding Ticket - Should I accept fixed penalty or go to Court?

But I assume you are planning on walking into Court to say that you thought it was a 40 limit which you were still exceeding. 8)

I`m not saying i disagree with your cause because i dont, but would be amazed if you will get away with admitting you were still over the limit you thought was in place no matter how much it was by. The charge is "exceeding the speed limit", not exceeding it by 11 mph.

As you can see from my earlier post i consider myself to have been robbed but is it really worth the risk of a potentially larger fine plus costs (which you`ll likely get) just to prove a point. If this is your only 3 points your car insurance premium in my experience is not effected for such a `minor` offence. Just dont go running through any Red Lights!

RE: Best bank? Fed up with Abbey

Again First Direct all the way. I havent been able to convert the missus away from nationwide but then she has no real reason to move as shes never had any trouble.

You can call First Direct 24 hours a day if you felt inclined and you always speak to a person whos knowledgeble on the topic. In about 6 years i could count on one hand the number of times my call has been in a queue and even then it was only a 1-2 minute wait.

Cant fault em.

(mortgage is with Alliance and Leicester and i cant get away quick enough. Damn you Redemption Penalty!)

RE: Speeding Ticket - Should I accept fixed penalty or go to Court?

Just a thought. Didnt you say you were doing 41? ie Still Breaking the limit you claim you thought was in force? I know its by half of a nats whisker but not sure how that would stand up in court!! ;)

About 5 years ago i had to accept 3 points because a sole police man following me decided i was speeding (as it happens i was by about 5 mph) but he didnt even have any timing / speed gear. >:(

I consulted a solicitor who was of the opinion that the court would take the word of a respectable police officer over mine. >:(

RE: Netgear 834G wireless router probs

Bassman - In that case it probably shouldnt matter as you`re not using the same name to effectivley sign in twice (on the router and through the AOL Browser).

I think the MTU value setting on the router would still be applicable though but preparing myself to be corrected!

RE: Netgear 834G wireless router probs

I have the same router running with a Centrino Laptop and my connection is bullet proof during the day with very long range through several walls. Lowest connection speed has been about 6-8Mps through 5 walls at the end of the garden!

First thing i`d suggest is checking the `MTU` setting on the router. Thing the default is something like 1452 but the largest AOL support is 1400. I had initial problems with the connection dropping every now and then but this seemed to solve it.

Second thing would be to make sure you are not logging on through the AOL software with the same Screen Name as you have allocated to the Router as this also upsets it.

Thirdly I assume you are on AOL Gold or above? Networking is not supported on Silver as you cant (correction shouldn`t according to AOL) be able to sign on with multiple Screen names which is what the router is effectivly doing.

Dont want to highjack this thread, but changing the subject slightly has anyone know of a solution to the "Connection being lost at Midnight" issue that AOL tell me is "known about" but they cant fix yet!? I only get this through the Netgear Router not when on my old USB modem. Network connection is not lost but Internet connection loses for a fraction of a second. Its possible to sign back on immediately!?

RE: wireless network help please (3COM router and AOL broadband)

make sure the Screen name you have set on the Router is a completely seperate one than you are using to sign on from your PCs. I tripped up on that. Created a random name for the router and all was sorted!

RE: Colour screen cordless phone with SIM card reader for under £40!!!

my local phones 4 u (burton on trent) had the twin pack for 49.99 last weekend. I nearly bouht this just before xmas for 129.00!
