RE: DVD recorder 160Gb hard drive £149.99

I got to Lidl in Peterborough at 8:40 and there were about six people in front of me. went through the turnstile and ran, grabbed my DVD/HD recorder, there was one left after mine. Payed and looked at receipt, it was timed at 9:02.

Really pleased with unit so far, have got it plugged into a freeview box at the moment. One touch recording is so simple as is pausing live TV. You can start watching a recording (on HD) before it has finished. Have tried copying DVD to HD and HD to DVD and both work well. It also plays DVD MP3s as well as all the other formats already listed. Used Liteon reqion hack, which worked a treat.

All in all a really good buy.

RE: Aldi 42

No, that was a 32" LCD HDTV, some store still have stock of those. I was in Lowestoft yesterday and they still had one left £749.99

RE: Aldi 42

I think you are right, but then again the Sony KE-P42M1 which has a list price of £2500 (you can get it for about £1424 on the net) has the same native resolution and they include no digital video input, be it HDMI or DVI. It can still display HDTV but the image must be down scaled.

RE: Cheap Sony Laptop - out of stock now according to Sony

Same here, when I ordered mine this morning it only showed a £10 charge (not yet taken from card) and no e-mail from them confirming order yet. Fingers crossed!!

RE: BT Aviator DAB radio

I just read the Cnet review, which didn`t rate the Aviator too highly, but I wonder how much they really tested it when they state that you can record radio onto the SD card (which you can`t). They also made no mention at all about its ability to play MP3s - the real function of the SD slot. See below from BT shop website.

BT Response: Many thanks for your query. We have asked the product manager for his feedback and have the following answers for you: "Two questions in one here...
1. Can you record onto an SD card - No, the memory card slot is for playback only. The 10min memory is for internal storage only to "listen again" to anything you may have missed.
2. Can the record function be set up by timer - No, the function is constantly recording the last 10mins of listened to radio only. The ability to record by date/time is being tested by manufacturers at the moment and is expected to be launched and available in products later this year. BT will of course be evaluating this EPG (Electronic Program Guide) for the next Aviator model. Thanks for your feedback.

RE: Cheap Sony Laptop

Thanks Hulkster,

RE: E4 - free for ever (if you didn`t already know)

We have three freeview boxes a philips 1500 in the kitchen, a matsui in the bedroom and a Sagem in my office and all three pick up the new channels without any problem. The Sagem didn`t even need a re-tune, it told me there were new channels available. None of these are top up boxes.

RE: 32" HD Ready LCD Television - 749.99

The Aldi advert is displaying the HD Ready logo, which according to the requirements below would suggest it can do 720p at 50Hz.

Requirements for the label "HD ready"
A display device has to cover the following requirements to be awarded the label "HD ready":
1. Display, display engine - The minimum native resolution of the display (e.g. LCD, PDP) or display engine (e.g. DLP) is 720 physical lines in wide aspect ratio.

2. Video Interfaces
* The display device accepts HD input via: Analogue YPbPr1; and DVI or HDMI

* HD capable inputs accept the following HD video formats: 1280x720 @ 50 and 60Hz progressive ("720p"), and 1920x1080 @ 50 and 60Hz interlaced ("1080i")

* The DVI or HDMI input supports content protection (HDCP)."

RE: Travelodge Tennertastic (rooms for £10) [rpoints]

At 1.30am I booked a night in Pontefract and two nights in the Lake District for half term week. It`s cheaper than taking the kids to the cinema. Did the same last time and spent the new year in London, had a fantastic time for £20 :D
