RE: WHS Clearance Bargains...

Did quite well today, managed to pinch some of the Attenborough the manager had put away for himself :)
There have been reports of LOTR Fellowship boxsets (w/ bookends) for a tenner, if anyone could pick up one for me you would of found yourself a new friend, seriously I shall reward you handsomely, I want one of these a LOT!

RE: $4.00 DVD sale at koreandvds

Sadly the stuff in that $4 just seems to be stuff left over from the $3 sale!

RE: Possibly the biggest DVD rip-offs in the world..

Yeh sorry, just I meant when I saw the title you were gonna have a rant about Criterions in general (and rightly so, I want bloody Life of Brian and Brazil you gits, but you price them out of my hands >:( ) rather than scummy gits ripping off local idiots.

RE: orange pre-film advert

One of the few adverts I actually enjoy, gotta applaud Orange and whoever made them.

RE: Possibly the biggest DVD rip-offs in the world..

Heh, I thought you were talking about Criterions. I have a local bloke that does R1s I suppose the prices aren`t that bad but compared to the internet they`re disgusting. God help the idiot saps that pay these prices, more money than sence.

RE: Dawn of the Dead (original) question.

There are 4 cuts:
US Theatrical (w/ Goblin Soundtrack)
"Directors Cut" - infact a rough cut Romero put together for Cannes (not much Goblin, mostly library music - my personal fave)
Argento Cut - shown in mainland europe (w/ Goblin soundtrack, Argento picked everything up off the cutting room floor and used everything Romero didn`t, shorter with less dialogue scenes)
Ultimate Final Cut (dubbed in German, everything piled in to make the film 156 mins - legality shaky, I think the German distributor (Astro I think) do own the rights do distribute the film in it`s regular state, have no idea if they were aloud to p*** about with it though)

DVDs to get:

Night of the Living Dead : Millenium Edition (R1 by Elite Entertainment)
Dawn of the Dead: 3-5 discer coming from Anchor Bay US in the Autumn time (I hope!) -R1
Day of the Dead : recently released Divimax SE from Anchor Bay US - R1

Don`t bother to wait for R2s Dawn rights are owned by BMG and Day rights are owned by Arrow, no hope of a decent release from either of these outfits. And while a Night DVD is poosible (from ANYONE seemingly) I very much doubt anything will beat the wonderous Millenium Edition from Elite with it`s lovely print and oodles of extras.

RE: 24 season 1

Damn I wish I wasn`t so anal :( I`ll probably end up getting it, but I`m so damn anal it`ll probably really p*** me off.
Does anyone have a pic of the back I could look at? Thanks

RE: 24 season 1

Shame it`s got swedish on the cover :(
Apart from that it`s supposed to be all english though, there`s a thread at www.thedvdforums.com in the Bargain forum if you want more info.

Problem with Yakumo XL2 (you know that £35 one off Amazon) Please help.

Very happy with this apart from one problem.
It`s effectively constantly zoomed in, cutting about 1/4 " off each side of the picture. I thought it might be because I was playing R1s but I tried it with an R2 and the same thing happened.
Anyone know why this is happening? I`m using a Sony PAL/NTSC TV and it`s connected through the er, picture cable (you know the one that isn`t Scart or S-Video, that`s the same as the audio cables, I`ve forgot the bloody name)
Could it be a setup problem, I`ve tried as many possible permutations as I can think of for the TV and DVD player but nothing seems to change.
Thanks for any help, Alan

RE: Game Various

2 days... 2 days they had those prices, then they jacked them up and worst of all kept the same prices on the `net! I have had so many problems with Game over the last couple of days I can`t I believe it, and then I get an email from them saying they can`t supply my Hulk Box Set, and it`s still for sale on their site >:(
I replied saying I`ll never shop there again, and I bloody well mean it.
