RE: sharing a broadband connection?
is the rj45 connector the same as the normal telephone plug?, cos i have a crimping tool already which i bought to make me modem cable it does the largeish ones and the smaller ones for the modem.
what sort of cable will i need exactly because i am wanting to add up the costs so i can work out the best way.

RE: sharing a broadband connection?
cheers for the reply`s,
i am not bothered about running cables because the room my mam`s pc is in is directly below mine so not all thay inconveniant.
i am planning on going with the `wired` router but i am unsure on how to set it up when i get one, are they reasonably simple?

sharing a broadband connection?
hi all
i am new to this so pleese go easy on me :)
i am going to upgrade to the pippex 1mb broadand connection and share it with me mam`s computer downstares, what options do i have?
i am new to this networking and such like so pleese try to keep it simple for me ;) , i don`t like the idea of having a server set up coz i ain`t got a spare computer, it would have to be set up so that one computer can use the net without having the other one on so i was thinking about getting a router but i don`t have a clue how things like this work so any help will be much appreciated.

p.s. feel free to recomend any products to me
