RE: British GP Dropped !!!!!!!!!!!

Just to throw in my tenpen`orth

I agree that Silverstone could severely do with a face lift, but who would that benefit at the end of the day?The teams.the corporate sponsers and the v.i.p`s,thats who! The poor joe who has to fork out of his own pocket would be no better off.
I read somewhere about a guy who went to Bahrain and said that facillites for the normal punter where few and far between,I.E nearest toilet about a 1/3 of a mile away from his seat, same for refreshments etc,and lets face it,the race itself on this super duper new track was hardly a classic, now was it.
At least at Silverstone you (nearly) always get a good race. The last two especially, have been really good spectacles.
I think the real core of the problem is Ecclestone,He has become a meglomaniac and no longer has the best intrests of the sport at heart.I think he needs to be removed, somehow. It seems to me that he is,literately only in it for the money.
On a general note,I also would like to see all the gizmos removerd from the cars and go back to man mastering machine and track and conditions rather than man being passenger. The problem here is that the teams themselves say that its the tecnology that makes it F1.I don,t agree.
I have been a fan of F1 since the late seventies, and for various reasons i can see it slowly but surely dissapearing up its own arse.
Sad days

Star Wars Trilogy (Extended U.S Version)

Hi Guys

Just spotted above at www.dvdworldusa.com.They seem to be making a fuss about this as shown by their remarks:

Full U.S. Version, Over 26 Minutes Longer than the Region 2 U.K. Release...Don`t settle for less...

Does anyone know in what way it is 26 mins longer?
I thought that the set was identical across the regions, barring the odd subtitle difference.
Any information on this would be most welcome.

Cheers
Craig

RE: CD-Wow CD/DVD/Games sale started already (a day early!)

Just to take this to a slightly different angle. One of the dvds i ordered(some sucsssful, some not) was "Blow".I specifically ordered this as it was the R1 version with its wonderful range of special features. This apparently was one of the successful ones and was advised as being sent. "Oh goody"i thought.Anyway the disc turned up this morning and was not the R1 version with said special features but the R3 bare bones version, which is obviously not what i ordered.
Whilst i appreciate cd-wows efforts to fulfil my order,i would have at least expected an email telling me of the switch in regions and asking me if i still wanted to go ahead with the order. In this instance i would have cancelled.
Anyway i think what i am trying to say is beware. If it`s happened to me it`s going to happen to others.
I am going to email them and complain, but i suspect i will not get very far.
I shall very much continue to buy from them, however,as apart from this unfortunate blip they have always prvided me with excellent service that up to this point could not be faulted.

RE: Help required please for DD/DTS System purchase

Hi
Very many thanks for all your advice.I finally went for the pioneer dcs-303 after deciding that the sacd thing wasn,t a major issue.
I have to say that is an awesome bit of kit and would readily reccommend it to anyone on a similar budget.
Once again my sincere thanks to Evolution,Leigh h and telboy10 for all your help.
Craig

RE: Help required please for DD/DTS System purchase

Evolution
Many thanks very much for your reccommendations and list of websites.I will certainly have a look at them all.I,m particually pleased that i won`t have to get a dedicated sacd player.

Leigh
I don,t know about the Panasonic but my Toshiba does not have a sub. However i have been generally very pleased with the performance of the surround sound and the bass, especially when playing a dvd.In fact my Wife (bless her) will never understand in a million years why i want to upgrade to a dedicated speaker system. It is for that reason that i haven`t told her!!!!

Craig

Help required please for DD/DTS System purchase

Hi
Please can anybody help me to find a decent(ish) surround sound speaker system.
The equipment i have got at the minute is as follows:-
T.V = Toshiba 28WD98B
DVD Player = Mico Clasica 20
I am aware that the t.v is Dolby Digital,as that is the reason that i bought it.At the time,i was just discovering dvd and the option of buying a t.v with built in dolby digital seemed like a good idea. Now i realise that the sound i am getting is not as good as it should be.
What i am looking for is a home cinema kit that can "do" Dolby Digital and D.T.S.
I have a budget of £350.
Please feel free to reccommend systems with players or just amp and speakers.
Iknow i,m asking a lot but any advice would be very welcome
Many thanks in advance
Craig
P.S My living room is about 15ft by 12ft.I mention this because i don,t really have much idea about system power (wattage) V Loudness,Clarity etc.
One final thing!!,I have recently bought some rolling stones cds that are S.A.C.D,although they play fine in my stereo. What would i need to hear the sacd layer?

Woolworth`s have it at £18.49 on their website (£24.99 in store),also i saw it in my local virgin express store (ex-v-shop) at £19.99

E.T R2 3 Disc Collector`s Edition

Woolworth`s have this title for sale on their website for £18.49.P+P is £1.50.They have it instore for £24.99.Twenty quid seems like an o.k price to me.
Might be of intrest to some of you out there.

RE: Thatzdvd.com any good

Hi Royd
I,ve used them twice now.First time i bought 3 discs,second time 6
(they,ve got an offer ,buy 5 get 1 free).Delivery was 2-3 days,3 discs by normal post,6 discs by parcel post(delivery is free by the way).Quality wise,i found the discs to be perfect, with the cases you could tell that 1 or 2 were secondhand, especially the warner snappers, but thats a minor detail in my book as as far as i,m concerned its the disc that matters.
I shall certainly be using them again
Hope that helps
Craig
p.s have never sold to them,so cannot comment on that side of their operation.
