Surround Sound Setup Problem???
My front room is a bit of a weird shape, and i am thinking about getting a surround sound setup. I can place the front + centre speakers fine, but i am not going to be able to get the rear effect speakers actually behind me, there going to have to go more left and right of the room.
As a newer comer to dolby digital is the sound still going to blow me away???

My dvd player is a philips 711, will i need to use an optical cable to get dts sound, or will it also work through the coaxial. Also is optical better than the digital coaxial???????

Seen as i do not wish to spend foolish amounts of money, and the fact that i`m no sound expert, will the Yamaha RXV496RDS reciever do the job as good as the Yamaha A5. I just want an amp with built in decoders for DTS and dolby digital.??

MY WEIRD TV!!!!!!!!!!!
I`ve got a philips 911 dvd player, when connected to my sony 4:3 tv via a scart, and the dvd is put into 16:9 it will play widescreen movies, full screen. When i connect it in the same way to my ferguson 4:3 tv and put the dvd in 16:9 the aspect ratio remains the same and a white line appears across the top of the movie. I`ve just connected it too the ferguson using the composite connectors, and it plays full screen now.... Why does it do this, could it be anything to do with the fact that the tv has got 2 scarts, or cus it is nicam stereo, or is it a s*** scart cable..

Widescreen Problems
I have a philips 711 dvd player. When i connect it 2 my sony or philips tv, and put the dvd player in 16:9 mode, it will play most widescreen dvd`s such as 1:85:1 in full screen. But when i connect it 2 my ferguson tv it won`t do this, and a white line just appears at the top of the film. Any idea`a????
