watching TV on a portable DVD player

Not sure if this is a daft question or not but I am looking to buy a portable DVD player (such as the Tevion model at Aldi for £159 (bargain!!)

Presumably these have the connections to be able to plug in an analogue aerial and a Sky aerial do they or are they simply for watching DVDs?

RE: SPLASHDVD OUT OF BUSINESS

Regarding refunds for purchases made by credit cards I found the following information that may be useful:

Background re "chargeback"
You may have a right to the issuance of a credit by the bank or other financial institution that issued your Mastercard or Visa card or, if you used an American Express card, by American Express itself. On the back of your monthly statement is the address to which all inquiries and written requests for chargebacks should be directed.

When you apply for a Visa card or Mastercard, it is usually issued by a bank. Your dealings are with the bank, called the "issuing bank" and not Visa or Mastercard. In order to issue such credit cards, a bank must agree to follow Visa or Mastercard regulations, but these regulations cannot take away any of your rights.

A merchant who takes your credit card prints a receipt and deposits it with his "merchant bank". Under the standard agreement, the merchant maintains a reserve account in the merchant bank to cover chargebacks by dissatisfied cardholders. The merchant bank pays the merchant and sends the receipt to your issuing bank. Your issuing bank then pays the merchant bank and sends you a "statement".

How to get a chargeback
You must, within 60 days following the date of the first statement on which the charge appears (not the date you made the charge; the date of the issuance of the statement appears on the face of the statement), write a letter to your bank setting forth in specific detail your dealings with the merchant

If you get your letter to your bank within the 60-day period (some banks extend this to 90 days), you need not meet any other condition. No geographical restrictions apply.
Your bank stands in the shoes of the merchant and will credit your account while it checks to determine whether your claim is valid.

You have no chargeback rights if you use a Visa or MasterCard debit card

Hope this is of some use. Good luck.

RE: Reduce your Sky package cost!

Just wanted to add to this previous discussion topic.

Sky previously was doing an offer to upgrade to full package for a £10 per month discount. This ran out for me the other day so I rang up to go back to normal £18.50(ish) per month package {everything except Sports and Movies}.

I was offered G1 package of adding Sports 1 & 3 and Movies 1,3,5,7 & 9 for £27 per month for 3 months, which I took up.

May be worth looking into for some

GBA Bargains at Poundland

I never cease to be amazed at some of the bargains that Poundland has. Is recent weeks I have picked up a rechargeable battery double pack with AC adaptor/charger and a gadget which your GBA slots into which shines a light on the screen and has quite impressive speakers to boost the sound.

Both incredible value at £1 each

RE: GTA Double pack on X-box...so who`s got it?

I got my copy between Xmas & New Year from Amazon for a little over £26.

Only played Vice City so far and it is awesome. The whole hitting, shooting, driving, causing havoc theme is great as is the fact that it has an 18 rating and includes swearing etc.

The only one thing that lets it down are the controls. Most games (Halo, Splinter Cell, Max Payne etc) all use both thumb sticks. The left one moves the body whilst the right one moves the head. Together, they normally lead to great control of the character. On GTA however they cannot be used simultaneously. Hard to explain, but it does not lead to great control which is unfortunate because it is otherwise the best game I have ever played.

PS If I am missing something about the controls, please let me know!

Does strong Pound mean buying from USA sites is cheaper?

I buy nearly all my DVDs from CD-Wow.
Just thinking though, because of strong pound whether worth looking at any US sites.
Has anyone looked into this recently?

RE: Woollies sale

I cannot see any "buy one get one free" offer.

Does it still exist?

RE: So what is the best Xbox Bundle to get?

Thanks for that. Looks like Toys R Us it is then.
I am a little reluctant though as I recently went to their Meadowhall Retail Park branch at Sheffield and the staff I talked to (about their £40 digi-sender) were absolutely ignorant.
If you are going to hire 16 year olds, at least train them.

Sorry for the winge, they just really wound me up.

So what is the best Xbox Bundle to get?

We are getting my brother an Xbox for Xmas and wondered what offers people have seen.

I currently have one and am willing to possibly pay a little more to get more games which I would have.(up to say £180ish)

I have seen the Toys R Us link posted earlier, but is there better?

RE: Chart Xbox games £29.99 delivered at Amazon.co.uk

Don`t forget, Amazon give £3 off to new customers (i.e. not used e-mail address before).

Also, the old "refer a friend" still works if you know where to look.
This gives the referor and referee both £3 off each!

RE: BOGOF on X-box Games at Toys R Us

On their web-site they are only showing 5 games as being in the BOGOF deal.
How many are on offer in their stores? Is it worth the trip?

PS Midnight Club II is one of the games on their web-site. If you haven`t got it, get it! It is brilliant!!

RE: VAT FREE at tesco.com Indy Boxset CHEAP

I ordered last Sunday, it arrived Tuesday 8am.

I know it has a whole 60 seconds of footage missing, but for £26 you can`t go wrong!

RE: terminator 3 DTS £11.99 region 3

I had already ordered the Region 1 Special Edition for £15.99 (less the £1.50 voucher).
I asked CD-Wow whether I could change my order to the cheaper Region 3 and use the voucher. Amazingly CD-Wow responded within 2 minutes of me sending my email and are refunding my full cost and have given me another £1.50 voucher to use.

Customer Service or what!!

RE: Splash offer

I have never used Splash before but thought I would give it a go to take advantage of the £5 voucher.

However it asks you to enter your credit card details at the same time as the redemption voucher.

How do I know whether it will deduct the £5?

On CD-Wow etc you redeem the voucher before you give them your credit card details.

Am I being too cautious? Based on others experiences, probably not
