Not sure if this is a daft question or not but I am looking to buy a portable DVD player (such as the Tevion model at Aldi for £159 (bargain!!)
Presumably these have the connections to be able to plug in an analogue aerial and a Sky aerial do they or are they simply for watching DVDs?

They are for TV watching only.
However some makes\models (Cyberhome & the many varients of the 710 for example) have a input socket(s) that will allow a video\audio to be input from a Freeview, Sky, Cable & (looks about & ducks, whispering......) even a VCR.
Practical upshot yes you can watch TV on them, but not by plugging in a aerial.
