Thanks to OP

Had a great (if horrendously wet) day yesterday at Alton Towers.

RE: Bought Archos XS202s for £99.97 today.

If anyone travels regularly, this is about £85 in the airport dixons (travel value). At least it is in Manchester. (but this is for the silver one)

BUT... with a look at a previous post on page 1, 13:15 on the 8th was 575,207entries and is now listed as 0.80064145187155. So to get the actual figure you have to multiple by 460535 (roughly)

If the website now has scaled figures, is it not also possible that the original figures were also scaled in some way. I find it quite difficult to believe that there were half a million entries every 5 minnutes. That would mean 144 million every day - or two for every person in the country.

SKY half price

Three months ago I phoned to cancel my sky contract. I was offered half price subscripiton for 3 months (which I accepted as well as downgrading to the family pack)

Couple of days ago the three months was up, so I phoned to cancel - and was offered half price for another 3 months - which I have taken up.

Not sure how long they will do it for, but it looks like if you phone them up and tell them you want to cancel, you can halve you subscription costs.

RE: Somerfield - Medion Sat Nav PNA150GPS £229

I`ve just checked this out in a local somerfields. It is the MIO badged version, which is the same as aldi stocked in Decmeber (I got one then)

RE: Somerfield - Medion Sat Nav PNA150GPS £229

Any links to pictures of this thing?

Cheap PAYG at Virgin (Recon)

Reconditioned phones, but as new, and with 6 month warranty.

Just bought a motorola V220 for £35

Listed as £45 here, but if you already have a virgin sim card, and buy through your online account, you get it £10 cheaper because they don`t need to supply a sim/joining pack. (use together with free sim pacs from a few weeks ago)

I think the 10 discount applies to all recon phones.

Freeview PCI Card £41.07 (inc vat, not inc p&p)

Just bought one - works a treat (after a driver upgrade). Seems a good price compared with the cost of digital tv cards I`ve seen recently

RE: free (legal) mp3`s

Just because "all of mp3" are not breaking russion law by distributing the music, does not mean you can legally keep anything you donwnload from them under UK law.

For example - if I was a record company, I would argue that users of the service are making a copy from the website of copyrighted material - and prosecute.

RE: Allders Up To 70% Off All Departments!

Went to the Allders at handforth dean (near Manchester) today.

Bought a set of kitchen knives. They were marked up at £75.00 with a 10% discount, but at the till they came up at 55 less 10%

So it is worth checking the actual price on anything you may be interseted in.

Is 300DPI pretty much te standard for `professional` photo printing?
Is there a quick way to resize lots of photos? I`m sure PSP can do it with some sort of macro but there must be a nice little utility to do batches..?..

You don`t have to resize - you could just upload the full size images. However 300ppi is generally accepted as the most you need for max quality - you can get away with much lower than this.

Irfanview (free) will batch resize images.

Backlog of photos now stands at 3 hours!! Never gonna get them uploaded before midnight, anyone know if they will extend the offer coz of this???

Offer is extended until 10:00 am tomorrow.

But if you use the FTP upload option, you can upload without delay. You use the built in ftp of explorer, and just dragndrop.

Alternatively you can use the email option.

Given that these are only 6x4 prints what sort of size (pixels?) should I go for to resize to before I upload? Actually the camera photos are 1.333:1 so is the 6x4 1/2 the better option?

Yes, you should use 6x4.5 (the only problem you may have is finding a standard album to fit this size), To print at 300ppi, 6x300 = 1800 - 4.5x300 is 1350, so resize to 1800 x 1350. If this changes the aspect ratio, increase one of the sizes to keep the aspect ratio the same.

RE: 1p prints until midnight tonight (9th Feb)

Excellent - thanks.

Just ordered 100 prints, plus 3 8x10`s to use up the £10 free credit I got with them for registering when they first set up.

By the way - upload backlogs can be avoided by using the ftp upload method.

RE: Gamecube £39.99 new, for all you who missed the other one

Thanks for that. Got one today in the Congleton store - unfortunately it was the last one.

RE: dvd recorder good deal!!!!!!!!

It is the predecessor to the E85, and only has a 40Gb hard disk.

RE: Pure Evoke-2: Digital Radio

Good spot

Thanks - ordered one yesterday.

RE: Lion King - am I stupid?

Thanks

Thats it - what a daft place to put it - under languages.

RE: Lion King - am I stupid?

OK OK

But I still don`t know where to find the menu options for the 2 versions of the film. Surely someone must know where they are?

Thanks

Lion King - am I stupid?

Got lion king SE

Cover says it`s supposed to have 2 versions. I can`t find any option to select this, and it only plays the new version with "morning report"

How do I get at the "original theatrical version"?

Thanks

RE: HELP! - I`m looking to buy my first computer......

If you follow this link

http://systems.scan.co.uk/systems/ConfigureFS.ASP?SystemID=16

You will be able to play with different configurations and get an idea of what they might cost. For some reason at this link they havent` selected a hard drive by default. This is for a mid range PC - scan also offer entry level systems at:

http://systems.scan.co.uk/systems/Category.ASP?CatID=10

Both of these have built in card readers for a camera.

I personally have not bought from Scan, but know others who have (Main reason is postage cost which makes them unviable for smaller orders).

RE: Best way of transferring data between hard disks..

Most PC`s can take up to 4 ide drives. You should have a second IDE interface on your mother board.

You will need a second IDE cable - should be able to borrow one from somebody. Configure your new drive as a master and connect to the second IDE channel. You may need to configure the bios to see this, but this is easy.

Presumably you know how to create partitions and format (Fdisk etc)

Then you can copy your files from the old slave and then replace it if you want - but why not keep all three drives in your PC.

It is possible if you have a CD and DVD drive that the second ide interface is already used. If so, you can tempoarily disconnect one of these.

Any good prices for GBA SP?

As title...

Anyone seen a good price for the Game Boy Advance SP?

Thanks

RE: 4 Megpix digicam £200. 3 x optical, 2 x digital zoom

Megapixels are not created equal.

You may get better image quality from a £200 2mpix camera from a good brand (Canon, Olympus, Nikon) than from a cheapie 4 mpix.

There is far more to image quality than the number of pixels.

RE: Blockbuster - free DVD rentals,

"movie you cant refuse"

I would bet on the Godfather for this one.

the line (offer you can`t refuse, or similar variaion) is used in all of the films.
