RE: Free (well you cant get more of a bargain) step-o-meter

Good spot, thanks.

Paid £15 for one from Boots, my dear lady said it would be too much for two...... Ha, I`ll be interested to here the excuse now!

RE: Free IBM PC

Maybe you lot could explain, who they are ripping off?

`Cos its not cost me anything (apart from two kids who thought they were getting a PC).

But I still see it as a classic scam!

WELL WHAT A SUPRISE:

Dear Mr ************,

Your Free PC pre-registration, customer number: ******

We regret to inform you that we are unable to fulfill your application at this time.

As you may know, Metronomy's launch generated considerable media interest, and we received an excellent response from households wishing to take part in the scheme. However, we have also received information to suggest that a minority of applicants do not intend to operate within our standard terms and conditions, resulting in the potential theft of the computer.

Whilst we have invested considerable resources into developing highly secure business processes and technology, the high cost of each PC means that we must control our exposure at this stage.

As such, we have reluctantly decided to release only a limited number of PC's in the first instance, in order to fully test our security procedures and technical infrastructure before a wider roll-out in the Autumn. Unfortunately, we will be unable to progress your application until then.

Should you wish us to remove your details from the waiting list, please click here: lecnac[at]moc.ymonortem and return the message, remembering to include your customer number. Otherwise, you will be contacted later in the year with further information.

We recognise that our concerns apply to only a minority of applications, and regret any inconvenience that this may cause to bona-fide customers, but feel this is the best course of action to protect the long-term interests of the business and ensure that the offer can be available to all who want it in future.

Yours sincerely,

Jacco Van Seventer

"30 days prior to your scheduled delivery, you will receive a unique reference number and link to our secure website, where you can complete our on-line agreement and confirm precise delivery details."

Anyone had this email yet?

RE: Free Fox DVD

You all miss my point,
A company the size of Fox make a grand "FREE" offer which was only for them to set up a mailing list. They make a complete mess of it. Leaving us, a quite normal cross section of consumers bickering about issues all caused by their incompetance.

Sorry if I stirred a hornets nest :{

RE: Free Fox DVD

Not that harsh..... they bombard me with e-mails and text mesages, they offered a choice of three DVDs for registering with them, I got mine then I got two others with my address but other peoples names. Now they make another offer which like others I am not overly bothered about the DVD

BUT

They should not make these offers if they are not able to fulfill their comitment.

RE: Free Fox DVD

No...... they are bloody usless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Why are 6% on Pluto

"Blue star Lee Ryan has confessed he wants to have sex with an alien.

He reckons there are extra-terrestrials living on the planet and says he would like to breed with one of them."

BACKS TO THE WALL......EH ;]

RE: Anti-war protesters causing Traffic Jams...What`s the point?

Thank god we live in a country where we can ALL express our views in whatever way we wish!

RE: ~TISCALI Internet Anytime Bargain~ Anybody use them ??

I`ve used Lineone then Tiscali for a few years both on pay per min and the £14.99 per month. Never had a problem, havn`t been cut off after two hours to my knowledge. The only gripe I have is the amount of e-mails they (and their selected partners) send. This is not on when you are paying them. Interestingly Lineone never sent these e-mails it has only started since Tiscali took over.
On a plus point they do have valued customer "free" PCgames and DVDs each month, never anything too spectacular but it keeps the kids in new games!

RE: A CD-WOW question?

they do this to try to get the dvd to you on the day of release. Nine times out of ten you get it early.
If you look at it from their point of view - how many complaints and lost customers would they have if it arrived a couple of days late?

RE: Bargain Crazy TV DVD VCR and Dolby HiFi £500

They are now advertising a Sony DVD player model DVP-S336 for £119 claiming £180 off the normal price!

Worth a look?

RE: My free Fox DVD just dropped through the letter box this morning.

Well am I the first to complete the hat-trick (without cheating!).
Full Monty came today. Wrong name again.
So just to pee you off Delboy I don`t get three lots of junk mail ;)

RE: My free Fox DVD just dropped through the letter box this morning.

Heres a thought - I wonder if Fox will sell their mailing lists on to third parties. We could get lots of junk mail in these other names........

RE: My free Fox DVD just dropped through the letter box this morning.

Even better - my WLB arrived a couple of weeks ago. Today I recieved Dr.D and like all you others it had my address but the wrong name.
You lot have got the disk you ordered, I only ordered WLB. So you may all get other disks as well.

RE: IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL BARGAIN FORUMS USERS

Is it not reasonable to alert other forum users to the incompetance of some large and well know companies? I can think of the famous brand digital camaras at under £20, and the register now SCAM with their free dvd offer (still havn`t got mine) im sick of the crap e-mails promoting their films.
If, unlike me, a user makes multiple requests using different names and locations HOW do such as Fox know this has actually happened?

RE: Free DVD

anyone got their dvd yet?
All i`ve had is product e-mails from Fox.

RE: Tivo £99 + £8 postage

Just clicked the link - ITS back on and I`ve ordered one ;)

RE: Free Batteries - Good for remote controls...

If you read the offer you will only be getting one sample battery...... not the packs you all seem to think you are getting. See terms below:

Please note that this offer is restricted to one sample per household and we reserve the right to refuse requests without explanation. Invalid email addresses will automatically be refused. You will receive a single cell to try. Sorry - UK addresses only.

Still its a good site for cheap batteries.

RE: pricing error? kodak 2.2 megapixel camera for £11.99 +vat

There has been alot of press in the last few days about rogue door to door sales people making false statements etc. How do I know that this was not just a ploy to get rid of a (considerable) stock at £160? How many people have gone ahead and purchaced them at the higher price?
If say 500 ordered them and 1 in 10 buy at the higher price the stock is reduced by 30 odd %

Is it also OK for companies like Action/Insight to be able to hide behind T&C`s when they cock up?

RE: pricing error? kodak 2.2 megapixel camera for £11.99 +vat

Does this mean they made a mistake:

Please accept our apologies. It would appear that the product code you ordered was a duplicate of our part KKBA02Z1Z which is available. The price of this unit is 164.99 + Vat

The web site advertised price for the discontinued code was incorrect and the margin of error was such that it amounted to a manifest error. Although Insight makes every reasonable effort to ensure that prices and descriptions appearing on our web site are correct and accurate, due to the frenetic nature of e-commerce,mistakes do occasionally occur.

In the case of manifest error, Insight is entitled to treat the contract as not having been properly created. We would like to assure you that no payment has been taken from your card.

We refer you to Clause 15 of the Insight Terms and Conditions of Trading, which are set out on our web site. All purchases from our web site are subject to these Terms and Conditions.

You now have one of two options:

(i) You can pay the difference between the quoted price and the correct price; or

(ii) You can cancel your order.

Please advise us as soon as possible of which option you wish to select. In any event, please contact us within 7 working days of this e-mail as after this period an invoice will be issued for the balance of the correct price. Once an invoice has been issued, Insight cannot accept the return of the goods.

RE: pricing error? kodak 2.2 megapixel camera for £11.99 +vat

Incompetence must be delt with. What do we do next to bring a company like this to book?

By the way does "grunt" work for insight?
Does he have inside info ;)
