RE: LG 20" Designer TV only £119.99
gah, why get a 20" television? manufacturers stopped producing 20" tubes years ago - they`ve probably all got old (albeit unused) tubes in them.

RE: Playing DivX from my PC to my TV??? Possible?
Hi,
The problem you state about not being able to select a second display... it`s because the nVidia drivers detect the displays its connected to. If you connect the card to the TV and then click "Detect Displays" all the options then become available.
With regards to the cable`s you`ll need...
S-Video/SVHS Lead (Male on both ends)
3.5mm Jack to 2 RCA Phono Lead
If you havent got a S-Video socket on your TV somewhere then you will need a SCART adaptor which plugs into the SCART socket and gives you a RCA Video socket, S-Video socket and two phono audio sockets.

Bargain! Will drop in to the Christchurch branch on the way to work in the morning
Thanks
RE: Philips Macrovision disable cable
I`ve built and used the lead you`re on about.
The idea is that you leave it with no P-Code. You will lose SVCD support (if you had it in the first place), but thats it.

PHILIPS DVD 634/640 HACK
can anyone help with a region hack for the philips dvd634?
tried the standard RC6 codes, but no response.
thanks
RE: Dansai 1010 vcd enable & macrovision free.Instructions here !!!!!!!
oh ffs, if you search back through the forum for "1010" say, you`d find numerous posts listing the exact same link.
I, along with loads of others in those threads, can confirm it works 100%. Macrovision disable also works and the mod to change the background aswell.

RE: Pioneer DV350......region hacks....any???
The small white connector (9 pins?) at the far left on the back looks akin to some connectors on other players which connect to serial ports. Pinouts anyone?
Btw, got mine pre-multiregioned from hifibitz.co.uk (bit slow on delivery tbh) for £129, but I know avland.co.uk are doing them multiregion for £129 aswell now.

RE: Philips 623/723 (& Newer Models) Hacking
I tried it on a virgin 623 at work and it was ok. For anyone still having issues making their newer players multiregion or anyone looking to disable macrovision on a philips player, you may want to check out http://66.197.63.122/forum/showthread.php?threadid=298

RE: Dansai DVD-1010 upgrade needed
If you want the disc image its around on these forums somewhere. In case its gone, it`s up on my site aswell.

You can either unzip the upgrade1010.zip file and burn the .cue and bin file via CDR-Win or just burn the BANK30.ROM file alone to a CD.
Whack it in the drive, let it do its stuff (it`ll go off), unplug it for 10 secs, plug it in & turn it on, remove the cd quickly and you`re away.

Me too. Also the background changing tip posted here a while back works brilliantly too. (For anyone doing it, set the Constant Bit Rate in TMPGEnc to around 5000Kbit.

Philips 623/723 (& Newer Models) Hacking
From what I`ve seen there`s no known multiregion hacks for the newer lines of Philips DVD players (DVD620, DVD623, DVD633, DVD723, DVD743, DVD743). The commonly used 750 hack produces the dashes, but only 11 instead of 12 - therefore implying you need a different code.
I have however seen a few UK online retailers selling these new models multiregion. Whether this is merely a mistake or assumption that they can be hacked easily on their part I don`t know. Here`s one anyway... http://www.kingdom88.com/futuretronic/listings/131.html
I will try to phone them tomorrow to find out if it truly is multiregion, and perhaps try and find out how. Looking at the firmware for the newer models (found at http://www.ianc.net/philips/downloads.shtml) there is no discernable difference (then again you`d be hard pushed to tell amongst thousands of lines of gibberish), so the answer must lie in a different set of P-Codes which could be extracted from the firmware. How to do that is beyond me.
If anyone`s got any info, place it here please.

RE: Dansai DVD-1010 upgrade needed
With regards to using that ZIP file...
Unzip it to a folder of your choice. You`ve got 2 choices here -
1) Go to www.goldenhawk.com , download CDR-Win and burn the CD (first icon on the left, browse to the .cue file and hit Start)
2) Open the .Bin file using WinImage (www.winimage.com). You`ll see in the Bin file two files - One is the instructions text file and the other is BANK30.ROM
RE Bubblegum... I`ve been reading up on this updated firmware (which I believe is a rip of the updated firmware being sent out by Tesco`s) and I am lead to believe it allows for VCD/SVCD playing and Macrovision disabling. If you open the BANK30.ROM file in Notepad and search for Macrovision, you`ll see a small section with titles like Macrovision AUTO, Macrovision DISABLE. I`m going to try it on one of the players at work tomorrow anyway.
