RE: Music Quiz Help Please

Unless it`s a trick question, "Voodoo Lounge" was the Stones` first UK no1 album after signing to Virgin.

Goth band Bauhaus were originally known as "Bauhaus 1919" if that`s any help.

I believe the Harry Robinson Sound, aka Lord Rockingham`s X1, were the the Oh Boy house band. Matter complicated by the fact that The Dallas Boys and the Vernons Girls were also on every show...

I`d double check the above, but hope it`s pointed you in the right direction...

RE: C,mon Clayts lets have another story thread

"As I said before, the last one was fun for a few days but got very, very tedious towards the end and just clogged the board up".

Don`t you mean it went against the grain of this tired , bragging lads` crap that clogs up this forum 90% of the time ?

RE: Help Please - Rapidly Dissappearing RAM

I use ME , and it`s a dog with regard to memory management.

I`ve found Cacheman (shareware, but freeware if don`t want to pay) from Outer Technologies soothes a lot of ME`s memory leakage problems.

Alternatively, and my favourite, is Memory Zipper Plus from

(30 day free trial - may be worth trying before upgrading OS or your hardware)

RE: Women and Technology

They regard technology as a "Man" thing don`t they?

It`s a psychological stumbling block - apparently few women bought satellite systems in the early days because it was a male "techy" thing by reputation, but when ITV digital launched with a female resonant name - "ON" - the skirted ones apparently signed up in droves.
(Maybe if Ford intoduced the Ford Fanny they`d clean up...) :)

RE: What`s the oldest bit of hardware you own?

1974 Sony stereo cassette deck
1975 Celestion Ditton 44 speakers
1975 Rotel RA 412 stereo amp

Bought new, all still working, but no longer used. Rotel amp has rather nifty dual bass/treble potentiometers for individual tone adjustment of each channel ! Thought this was pretty far out and groovy as 16/17 year old...

Museum piece - Polaroid Polavision instant developing Super 8 outfit bought for £40 in Birmingham Dixons` fire sale in Autumn 1980. Marked down from £180 !! Used once and quickly forgotten about...

RE: My pop quiz threads. Your thoughts?

Arguing with girls is usually a waste of time.

RE: Children of the Corn 1,2,3 for £13:99 at Play

"The first one isn`t a bad film but the other two suck big time (said in my best American voice!!)."

Went to the cast and crew screening of Children Of The Corn 1 in Los Angeles in Feb 1984. I thought it was the worst Steven KIng adaption I`d ever seen.

My friend`s wife`s buddy was doing the publicity for the movie and said they weren`t really going to bother, and it was being thrown straight out onto the drive-in circuit, with an early video release (i.e they didn`t have much faith in it!)

(Trivia: A large portion of the movie`s financing came from the guy who used to play Arnold in Diffr`nt Strokes)

RE: My pop quiz threads. Your thoughts?

Please don`t call me "mate".

3 or 4 sucky replies don`t constitute a tidal wave of support.

PS. Were your parents siblings ?
