RE: I get Black+White picture when recording DVD to VHS ?....

I have tried every SETUP combination possible to overcome this problem with no luck. I have just tried swapping my Toshiba VCR for an older Mitsubisha and it worked first time !!!

SCART to SCART (RGB,PAL settings)

It is definately an issue with the Toshiba !! (my model is V859B)

RE: I get Black+White picture when recording DVD to VHS ?....

My video settings for SCAN SC-2000 DVD are...
TV TYPE: PAL
SCART : RGB

I have connected the `To TV` DVD SCART to my Toshiba V-859B VHS rear SCART (L2). I have also tried many other ideas like using composite leads different SCART lead etc.

I definately think it is an issue with certain Toshiba VHS machines + the SCAN SC-2000.

I get Black+White picture when recording DVD to VHS ?....

using a ...wait for it... Scan SC-2000.
Arrived as v2.07 (with F/W CD v2.16 in the box)
Have just upgraded to f/w v2.33VF and still get b/w picture...aaahhh!!!!!!!

I`m pretty sure it`s not macrovision.
Wondering if its Toshiba VHS ?
Any help appreciated !

AP

I get `cannot find server` when trying to reach Scan2000 group at Yahoo! ?

I`m trying to connect and not once have i managed to get in using ic24.
is it something to do with ic24 because i can get on using freeserve but don`t want to use freeserve cause it`s not free like ic24 !!

Is the Scan SC2000 v2.16 macro-free ??

I would try the user group but I think there must be a network problem somewhere `cause I can`t connect to it !!

is v2.23 macro-free ?? Does it sort out mp3 skipping !!

RE: NAPA VCD MP3 PLAYER

Forget the NAPA. Get the Phillips Expanium. A friend said he sold the NAPA `cause it skips like mad but the phillips is supposed to be great.

RE: SCAN OWNERS WHO UPGRADE -DO U USE CDR OR CDRW?

I have a SC-2000 purchased around september last year. According to the firmware screen mine is version 103. I attempted to upgrade to version 2.14 which was sent to me by ylleN[at]nacS but nothing appears to happens when I put the firmware disc in the player (?). The LCD display shows the disc is in as it displays track 01 but I wondered if you need to press play on the remote or should it update automatically (I think the instructions are a bit misleading). Any help appreciated.

RE: Sony STRDB940 v Yamaha DSPA5

I`ve just checked the prices of both amps at Richer Sounds Site.

Yamaha A5 = £263
Sony DB950 (with tuner) = £370

I`m looking to buy one myself and have heard that for premium sound quality pick the Yamaha but the Sony does have a lot more features including the built-in tuner which the A5 lacks.

For a small room and if you don`t want to splash out you could go for a Sherwood. The cheapest is only £99 !!

If you see the price of the sony/yamaha cheaper elsewhere let us know as apparently richer sounds will beat any price for £50 less !!)

RE: Oh My God!! - SCAN-dal

I can`t play the Toy Story Bonus Disc on my Scan SC2000 and have been waiting to here from SCAN for about a week now and still nothing has happened. Has anyone tried using the `support` link on their site...it appears to be permanantly down !!

Anyone know Ann Robinson`s email address ??!!

RE: Scan SC-2000 Won`t play Toy Story Box Set Bonus Disc....

Thank you for your helpful suggestion. I will email Scan immediately.

Scan SC-2000 Won`t play Toy Story Box Set Bonus Disc....

I`ve had my Scan SC2000 for about six months and had very little trouble until today when I purchased the `Ultimate Toy Box`. After 2 minutes the Bonus Disc just stops. If I press the menu button whilst it plays it just stops again. I read on the news pages (and saw on Watchdog) that many players suffer this problem. Any other Scan owners found this ?
Do the newer Scan machines/firmwares fix this ? I have firmware v1.53.

Ps:
I`ve been told that I can`t use the latest firmware :(

Advice needed on firmware upgrade for the Scan SC-2000.

I`m not sure exactly what firmware number I have (even after following the instructions in sw_upgrade.doc) but I have included the details taken from the `SETUP -> STOP -> STEP -> MENU` blue screen.

CUSTOM ID SCN
MAIN VER 00000153
NAV VER 000009CE
PWD 00000000
CLOCK 00000438
HEIGHT 00000120
RUN TIME 0000005D
N-SETUP 00000003
S-SETUP 00000004
RESULT 00000002

Also, my machine is about six months old and I have fitted the microchip version firmware (posted from scan) so I guess the info above relates to that. My question is can I install the latest firmware ? Any help on this matter appreciated.

RE: My Scan SC-2000 Problems

I received the new firmware uprade from scan for the SC2000 a few weeks ago and although it does let you turn off macrovision (hurrah!) It won`t let me program Audio CDs anymore (damn!)

p.s. Picture Quality is still poor on most of my R2 films and R1 Austin Powers 2 is still Jerky!!!

Does this qualify me for a new MPEG card and CD Firmware too!!??

RE: Firmware for Scan 2000

My SC-2000 Has two options under the CSS setting Auto & Off but in your review it says don`t disable this!? Is this still true?

Scan SC-2000 new query!!

I have been reading the comments made about the scan sc2000 with great interest however i have found a problem not mentioned.
Whilst playing Austin Powers 2 (REGION 1 version) i noticed the picture jerking on fast scenes. I took the movie to my brothers who also has a sc2000 and the same thing happens!!?? It`s very annoying!!
A friend told me it could be because I`m not using a NTSC TV. Does this matter? I also got the diagonal lines problem discussed previously but disabling digital audio out does seem to cure that one a bit!
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. thanks again.
