RE: Review of Dansai 852 DVD player

Thanks.
Have linked to the reviewcentre reviews - they I what I used to decide to go ahead with purchase. Hadn`t seen the totalDVD review.Bit brief - but interesting. I think the reviewer would have pleasently surprised if you had used RGB via scart - the quality difference is incredible.

RE: Review of Dansai 852 DVD player

Nice review.
I`m sorry - I noticed you entered my chat room - but I had popped away from my desk. I`m back now if you want to discuss SVCDs.
Yes I have got SVCD`s to work. Although I`ve had best results using DVD2SVCD (www.doom9.org)
Or try downloading the test svcd file from vcdhelp.com and burn it to cd using demon tools to make the iso file appear as a cd drive - then just do a copy cd - gives good results. Let me know if that works.

RE: Can anyone recommend a £110 or less DVD Player?

I would recommend the Dansai 852 from tesco`s. Well reviewed on the web. Have a look at my review:
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/homesite/Dansai852/
It doesn`t look quite the same as the empiredirect one, but it may have similiar features.

Betamax
I`ll try and get a picture of that screen tonight.
I did link to the http://www.dansai.freehosting.net/ site on my page for the hack. Maybe he`ll do the same for mine(!)
Cheers for you comments,

RE: Review of Dansai 852 DVD player

Many thanks for your encouraging words! I vowed I would put it up after I had trouble finding much information on the player before I bought it.
I thought I would start it simple and see if there was any interest. I have taken your advice and opened the images new windows.
I`ve also added a live chat room and forum - but I`ll need to get a few hits before that pays off.
Your site looks very impressive bye the way!

Review of Dansai 852 DVD player

Please see my review of the above player:
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/homesite/Dansai852/
I have included pictures of the player, an example video of the tray eject, a scanned in copy of the manual, and lots of other information. Hope it`s useful to someone.

RE: Need a reasonable priced DVD player, must play DVD-R

I purchased a Dansai 852 from tesco for £99. It plays eveything I`ve thrown at it. I haven`t tried DVD-R but vcdhelp.com says they play fine. There seems to be nothing these drives don`t play.

Dansai 852 - Digest?

I have seen someone quoting that with this drive you can put a variety of files, eg wav, jpg, mpg, vob, on a cd, hit the digest button which is the "intro" button on the control I beleive, and you will be able to play any of these files. I cannot see how to do this.
I can see mpg and vob files ok on a normal iso cd, but not jpg or wav. To see jpg I have to burn a vcd, and wavs I can`t see at all. I have the latest firmware version ends 1116 I beleive.
Am I missing something?
