My da has the same player and here is the hacks for it. multi region works great but vcd hack only plays certain types of discs but works. hope this helps you.

To convert this player to Multi-Region
1.
Press the Menu button on your remote control
2.
Press the 1 button on your remote control
3.
Press the 6 button on your remote control
4.
Press the 7 button on your remote control
5.
Press Mute button on your remote control for All Regions
To convert this player for VCD playback
1.
Press the Open button on your remote control to open the drive tray
2.
Place an audio CD in the drive tray
3.
Press the Open button on your remote control to close the drive tray
4.
Press the Menu button on your remote control
5.
Press the 1 button on your remote control
6.
Press the Index (1-All) button on your remote control
7.
Press the Open button on your remote control
8.
Press the 1 button on your remote control

HI found out some new stuff about this player it is realy an optim DS-8302 and britania sell it under there own name here is the region hack and macrovision hack for it
To convert this player to Multi-Region playback
1.
Press the Open button on your remote control to open the disc tray
2.
Press the Intro button on your remote control
3.
Using your remote control, press the buttons 2, 0, 1, 1 and 0 one at a time, in order
4.
The onscreen display should now read Set OK
To disable Macrovision on this player
1.
Press the Open button on your remote control to open the disc tray
2.
Press the Intro button on your remote control
3.
Using your remote control, press the buttons 0, 7, 1, 2 and 1 one at a time, in order
4.
The onscreen display should now read Set OK

hi mate i have a rec 900 and i can play anything on it i have SVCD VCD and Multi-regions and all play fine i have not tried the macrvision yet so dont know it is a good buy for £99 well thats wot i paid
