Schneider SHC201 from Asda

Basically, was wondering if this is a new kit or an old DVD player with speakers, as I can`t find any reviews or info as such anywhere.

If it is new, has anybody purchased one yet, and is it multiregional or hackable.

Schneider SHC201 from Asda

Have just seen this home cinema kit in my local Asda, but cannot find any reviews or information on it anywhere. The model is Schneider SHC201 on the box, but the assistant wouldn`t let me open it unless I either bought it, or convinced the manageress to put it on display, to see if there was further info inside.

Does anyone know if it`s anygood or if it`s multiregion or hackable or if it`s a regular DVD player+speakers e.g. 857/855/511 etc.

The kit looks O.K. for £199 so please can anybody help :-(

£350 `VIRTUAL` MONEY TO SPEND

My wife has told me to find a Home Cinema System not to exceed £350
Sooo! I wondered if any of you out there could suggest a system to compete with my neighbours `meaty sub-woofer` as the advert goes.
I`d like it to be Multi-region or hackable, and have a FM tuner if possible.

Schneider 855 Macrovision! Possibility!

After mooching about the site, i`ve come across this posting by a certain dude called `wonder` and on the understanding that a GOODMANS GDVD125 is basically aSCHNEIDER 855 in disguise,and this is to de-macro a GDVD125, I have a request to one & all.
If at all possible, can somebody with both aSchneider 855 & a region 0 dvd try this out as I have a 855 but not a region 0 dvd (BTY as a matter of interest does this mean a multi-region dvd?)

i found this posting from someone else but i dont know if it works

Input a region 0 dvd into the dvd player (I use Shaolin Temple 3 a Jet Li film distributed by Eastern Heroes) Press play enter title and start film let the film run for a few seconds now press stop and eject the dvd, insert any other region dvd or vcd and hey presto no macrovision. It works every time for me!!!
You will have to repeat this procedure every time you switch your dvd player off.

P.S. If somebody finds that it does work can they make it known to all 855 owners.

Advice on budget Home Cinema Speaker systems

I`ve been recommended the following systems to possibly attach to my DVD player, but as I`m only a novice, I require advice.
I have a Schneider 855 player which I believe outputs`DTS`

GRUNDIG GCS3000 @ £129.99 (Does this decode said `DTS`)!!!

GOODMANS GHC50 @£129.99 (Is this any good at all, no mention of `DTS` in description!!!

D33 (ARGOS SPECIALS) @£99.99 (Waste of money! or Bargain! Again no mention of `DTS` in description

Or does my player have a built in DTS decoder!!

Good idea W1zz. Why don`t you have a go, pretending to have his symptoms.
I only suggest this because i think you know a lot more about what`s required, and also by the looks of it, the other guy looks to be an evening person!

IF ANYONE OUT THERE CAN HELP ME WITH MY NEW MACHINE.
MY DEAR WIFE BOUGHT ME A SCHNEIDER DVD 855 PLAYER FOR CRIMBO.
I`VE MANAGED TO MULTI-REGION IT.
I`M WAITING FOR MY UP-GRADE CD TO CORRECT THE LIP SYNC.
BUT! I NEED TO KNOW WHICH SOUND SYSTEM TO BUY. I HAVE A TOSHIBA T.V. WITH SURROUND SOUND, BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS NOT ENOUGH. WOULD THE MUCH TALKED ABOUT BUSH SYSTEM FROM SAFEWAY BE ALRIGHT, OR WOULD IT HAVE TO BE ANOTHER.
ALSO, ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE 855, OR AM I JUST ABOUT SORTED.
