RE: Surround Headphones

Gazza - I checked out some reviews for the Yamaha system and they seemed excellent. For anyone else whose interested I found it at http://www.makingwavesaudio.com/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Yamaha_TSS_1_Home_Theatre_System_75.html for £149 including next day delivery. Think I`ll give it a try.

RE: Surround Headphones

Alright cheers guys, I`ll take a look at some of the speaker packages.

RE: Richer Sounds

I was about to buy a Cyberhome AD-L528 from the richer sounds website for £119.99 (without postage), but decided to make the effort to go to the birmingham store instead. They charged me only £99.99 for the same model, a saving of £20 (although the website price has dropped now). I later saw that Wh-smith were charging the same, so had I known, and Richer kept to their price promise, I could have got another £10 off. Their pricing differences do irritate me though, with some offers exculsive to readers of certain magazines, so you never know if you are paying as little as possible. And I don`t like their new website, very slow to load, and lots of confusing icons. The old one was far better. Still, past experiences with them have been good, they will replace faulty or unwanted kit without question.

Surround Headphones

Ok, so I`ve brought a TV and DVD player, and want to build a complete DD 5.1 system. Trouble is, I live in a semi with family, and I`m going to live in halls at uni next year so a whoppin` great seperates system isn`t going to make me very popular. I`ve read a bit about surround headphones, What hi-fi seem to like a Philips pair for £140, I`ve also seen some Sonys which claim to use virtual DD and DTS, but cost £350. Has anyone used these or other models, if so are they any sort of alternative to a seperates system? Or is an all-in-one packages with tiny speakers and a sub a better option, bearing in mind i`ll have to keep the volume down? Any advice much appreciated.

RE: Cyberhome AD-L528 - Anyone recommend this for a budget player?

I`ve just brought an AD-L528 from Richer sounds for £100, a bargain. It`s my first player, and the sound and picture are impressive. It does seem very noisy though, making a constant high pitch whine that is off-putting during quiet bits of the films. Is this normal for DVD players, or is the cyberhome particually bad? Can anything be done about it (other than wrapping the thing in a duvet)?
