RE: AVOID www.cheapesttv.co.uk AKA T.V.s DIRECT

Yes I was very very tempted...in the end I went for a brand new Toshiba 36 from John Lewis....extremely happy with my decision. So glad I have the piece of mind...I know I would be really worried if I went for the Grade A...also, the Tosh just about fits in the space...anything bigger would have been a disaster!

When I spoke to the guy at TVs Direct, he suggested a cheque would be safe and is traceable...is this true?

Anyway, glad you`re getting a refund...both companies are definately not selling Grade A tvs...more like Grade B refurbished stock.

Good Luck!

RE: What`s better DVD Essentials or Ultimate DVD Platinum?

Thanks for that, I`ll go for the Essentials then.

What`s better DVD Essentials or Ultimate DVD Platinum?

Both of these discs are at eazydvd. I read in earlier posts that the Essentials disc is fantastic for setting up your home cinema, but is the Platinum the updated version?

I have just bought a DVD player, and my Toshiba 36 CRT is arriving on Friday, so I really want a disc to help set up my picture/sound for optimal pleasure.

Thanks

36" Tosh CRT or 40" Tosh RP - which one?

Hi,

I`ve already ordered a Toshiba 36ZP18P, which is due to arrive on Friday. However,I have now seen RP TVs - (40" are within my "size restrictions"). These sets blew me away, simply the size - 40" is exactly the sort of upgrade I wanted from my 25" TV.

I`m just not sure what to do now,I can get the Toshiba 40WH08B for around £150 less then I paid for the 36ZP. Can anyone please give pro`s and cons and some opinions.

Much appreciated!

Rishi

RE: What is pioneer 444 like compared to ns300 &Sd210????

Hi I bought mine from www.mailuk.com - superb service (came next day), and I`m very happy with the player - particularly impressed with the mp3 playback! They were slightly more then techtronics, but it was worth it, as I read a couple of problems with techtronics in these posts! Only negative about this player is no component out.

Cheers

Why CRT over Rear Projection??

Hello,

I ordered my Tosh 36Zp today over the phone. I later went into a Currys store and saw the 40" rear projection TVs (and bigger), they also had the Tosh on display in another area). The RP TV blew me away - I loved it...perfect size (40"), fairly slim. I guess coz I`m upgrading from a 25" set, I wanted to feel like an upgrade - especially with parting so much cash - does that make sense?

Anyway, I was wondering why would people pay the same price for a CRT when they can get a bigger RP TV - I don`t really know anyhting about RP TVs.

I really am considering changing the order to a RP TV...anyone got any comments to help me out.

Thanks
Rish

RE: Toshiba 36ZP18P vs Hitachi C36WF830N vs Panasonic TX-36PG50

I ordered a Toshiba, over the phone, but when I went out and into Currys, I saw some 40" Rear Projection widescreen sets - which i loved, and they are the same price...I wondering whether to cancel the order and change to rear projection?

I have to say - the Tosh, didn`t look as good as it did in the pictures and Toshiba`s brochure - very clever photography....

RE: which trader

Got the player this morning 10am - so that was very fast and I`m very happy, well done mailuk!!

Toshiba 36ZP18P vs Hitachi C36WF830N vs Panasonic TX-36PG50

Hi
Has anyone read the review in What TV and Video (October issue I think), on the 36" Tosh and the Hitachi? What was the conclusion?

These TVs are going for around £1,500

Anybody able to offer any advice on these 3 sets? Looking at the Tosh in their brochure, it looks breath taking, and is really beckoning me!!The picture frame design looks awesome!

Also I understand there is only a cosmetic difference between the Hitachi C36WF830N and the older C36WF810N - is this correct?

I already have a DD amp and speaker package, which means I won`t be taking advantage of this feature in the TVs, which seems like a shame.

Cheapesttvs.co.uk (TVs Direct) are doing the Hitachi for £1,000 Grade A with only a 90 day warranty.

Help much appreciated.

RE: which trader

Just ordered this player from mailuk, they have already sent me a e-mail saying they have despatched it...excellent!! Will post when I receive it, so far I`m very impressed.
£229 inc vat/delivery.
I was going to order from Techtronics, but after reading negative posts...decided not to, only a few £ difference between them. At least mailuk is registered with "Which".

Anyone bought from TVs Direct or Eurogold?

Hi,

Has anyone bought a television from either
http://www.cheapesttv.co.uk - TVs Direct or
http://www.televisionbargainbasement.20m.com - Eurogold

I`m very sceptical. They both claim to sell Grade A sets, but TVs direct sell the Hitachi C36WF830N (the latest 36" set by Hitachi) for £999 and Eurogold sell theirs for £1245 plus £25 for delivery. They both only offer a 90 day parts and labour warranty.

I have spoken to both companies, and they are obviously in direct competition with each other. Eurogold claim that TVs direct sell "refurbished sets", which means the TVs could have been faulty sets originally. They claim they only buy the "cream of the stock" read here
http://www.qxl.com/cgi-bin/qxlhome.cgi/EN/QXL/PR/Q1008711830/_19791532 - this is one of their TV`s being auctioned on QXL.co.uk, where you can read all their claims.

TVs Direct have said they both buy from the same supplier, and that it`s "rubbish" that Eurogold are able to buy specific "top quality sets".

I`m not expecting a brand new set for that price, but I don`t want a set that will break down after a few months, or a set that looks like it has been "trashed" i.e. cosmetically damaged (I can tolerate a few minor marks).

Any advice or experience on these companies most appreciated, also on Grade A sets in generally (if such a term exists!)

Otherwise I may be able to pick up a Panasonic TX36PF10 for £1350 brand new from Comet using my cousin`s 10% discount. Is that a good buy? I already have a DTS Amp and Speaker set-up,and just placed an order for a Pioneer DV 444.

Sorry for the long post!! Shucks, hope it gets read....

Thanks in advance....I reallyhope I hear some positive feedback on TVs direct...very cheap price!
