The Lady Vanishes

If you managed to miss this one on Sunday night, count yourself lucky. A remake of the 1938 Hitchcock thriller in the loosest terms.  They managed to lose half the story and still fill a very long hour-and-a-half.

Apparently it was commissioned for Christmas 2012 and somebody in BBC management realised it wasn`t good enough even for Easter.

I was bored ****less.
Turned it off after 30 minutes. The wife is a big fan of this stuff but she said it was awful.

I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad

I made the same observations on another forum which shall remain nameless and was told in no uncertain terms that the BBC version was closer to the original novel than the Hitchcock. I`d say the Hitchcock version is the more familiar frame of reference than a comparatively little known novel.

EDIT: if they`d left making this until 2015 they could have adapted Ethel White`s novel for free as the copyright lapses December 2014.
