I can`t wait for this.

Incase anyone doesn`t know the new series, will be generally focusing on one character from the show, as this will get around the scheduling conflicts.

My favourite comedy of all time

Watched the first 4 so far.

It`s been alright, but obviously not at the peaks of the 3 proper original series.  I believe from reviews it gets better as it goes on and there are some jokes that don`t pay off until later.

I do find myself watching it a bit like a mystery though and taking notes of occasions and watching for stuff in the background etc.

The constant shifting in time, is also a bit hard to piece together aswell what has happened in what order.

We`ve got a free trial of Netflix at the moment. Should I go back and watch the original series? I`ve never seen it.

Absolutely, yes. It's one of the best TV shows I've ever seen.

The new one takes a bit of getting used to as each episode focusses on one character rather than the whole family (due to scheduling issues), but it's worth the wait. It does start slow, but hits its stride by the time it gets to the Gob episode. I don't think it's as good as the original series run - I don't think it would have been possible for it to live up to that - but there are some absolutely brilliant moments. It's incredibly densely layered as well; the way it all comes together is fantastic, with seemingly disposal moments paid off in later episodes. You really need to watch the series in order as it builds to a climax. I was cracking up throughout  but one of the gags early on in the final episode really got me (to the point I was doing my 'silent' laugh).

I can see why some people don't like it because it's not exactly the same as it was when it ended in 2005, but different isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'd rather this than nothing. My favourite episodes were those focussing on Gob, Tobias and Maeby. Tobias is still 'bluing' himself :)

I read someone complaining that Portia de Rossi doesn't look like her character any more, apparently failing to realise that she isn't ageless (only Jason Bateman and Michael Cera are ageless) and that her character is supposed to be older as well.

It thinks its more her weight loss, it was quite distracting when I first seen her, I actually double checked it was still Portia Di Rossa. A google search seems to suggest she has been battling anorexia for a few years.

Im 4 episodes in and it's brilliant having Arrested Developement back. I'm glad Netflix dumped the whole season in one go, I hate waiting a week between episodes with scheduled TV.

Have they said if this is a one off or will there be more next year?

Bryan- Basically it is all leading up as the set up for an Arrested Development movie.

That`s the ideal result, think a new season could be a possibility if a movie fails, but the main reason for the new format was scheduling and obviously the cost model with Netflix.

Brian- Arrested Development is my favourite comedy ever. Basically first 3 seasons are genius, but it is massively layered with certain jokes set up in season 1 for a payoff in season 3 etc.

Season 1 slowly drew me in, but those episodes are actually better the second time around.

I have rewarded the whole of season 1 and 2 and half of 3 in the past few weeks in the lead up (didnt quite get through it all before the new ones came out).
