The Official Celtic 10/11 Season Thread

Well Big season ahead, I hope the jobs not too big for Lennon so early in his career but i fear it is, anyway.

Signed Du-Ri, Korean full back and Mulgrew, ex celtic left back now returned to the club, linked with a shed load during close season including Sol Campbell as Lennon looks to beef up the back, to me it looks like he is getting ready to shift to a 3-5-2. Looked like we missed Ledley but seemingly hes back in glasgow last night for more signing talks, he would be a big one for us, also Mexican world cup winger Berrera whos agent has flown 12,000 miles for talks, again this looks like McGeady is on his way with the money paying for a rebuild job we need desperately.

So its like deja vu...lots of comings and goings, hope the outcome is different!

McManus off to boro, Boruc to sign for Fiorentina, Japanese and china players both off the books as well as the loanees from last season.

In is Ledley who i think is a top signing for us , didnt think he would come tbh but very glad he has.Mexican full back/def midfielder linked with 2.5 million move, another signing which suggests a switch to 352 to me, need a good center half badly now and hoping Ki will have a big season after his world cup showing and a good pre season with us

Big night ahead, 7 or 8 new signings scares the life out of me tbh, bratislava flashbacks :(.
Team picking very dodgy but here goes, I assume 1st he is still on 442 or 4411 formation based on pre season, i did think he was headed towards 352 but no center halfs signed so thats not happening with our current squad i dont think. Hinkel left of the 25 man squad so think he`s gone.

Zaluska
Di
Mulgrew
Hooiveld
Loovens
Ledley
McGeady
Brown
Juarez
Samaras
Fortune

Got several new signings Hooper and murphy will hopefully push Fortune out of the picture as he is not a goalscorer for me, be glad if he proves me wrong.

Meant to ask on here in the end did Boruc go cheap or not.

Now that you highly rated him a season or two ago and disregarded the mistakes he`d made, but think he made quite a few last season?

£1.7million he went for I believe?

Also fair play to Strachan who is trying to prove how well Celtic and Rangers would perform in the Championship ;)

£2 million ish, 1 year left on contract so would lose him for nothing in 6 months, he will do well even though he will have a battle on his hands as the french keeper is v good too and by all accounts a fan fav at fiorentina. Also gets big wages of the books, i would have kept him personally, if he helped us thru to the cl group stage thats well worth £2 million.

EDIT:Dont remember him making big blunders last season, he was out injured and had some time off because of family bereavements too so wasnt his best.

Game Over

We got exactly what we deserved, penalty was a joke, they took over from then and tbh we were well beaten by a very average looking side. Too many new starts didnt perform, Cha du ri is fast granted but didnt win a tackle all night and Mulgrew was frankly shocking, showing perhaps why he didnt make it 1st time? the mexican was a yard short of pace and seemed to be trying too hard, Ledley was non existant to the extent i didnt know he was on till 20 min (watched on iraqigoals). Samaras again at least tried (unlike most of last season) Maloney again didnt look fit, I am disgusted that for money we left our best player out of the squad and if we have no gumption to go at a team with our best attacking players than as i said earlier we got what we deserved. Finally I know why he went 451 but we have the worst defence iv seen for many years, Loovens was shocking at the 2nd goal...Boruc would NEVER have been beaten from 35-40 yards off his goal line like Zaluska was and Hooiveld is not good enough at present and needs a season on loan. Not a single pass mark tonight and that is simply not good enough

Apart from free kicks, Mulgrew was nothing special at Aberdeen.

I thought he`s gone in as first choice and Frey is on his way now?

I suppose his wages need to be added in aswell so probably would have been more like £3.5million to keep him for the year, so the maths start to work out I suppose.

To be honest I don`t follow the Scottish leagues that much now but just seem to remember there had been a few high profile blunders last season, although it could have been the year before?

In positive news I saw the team you`d put yesterday and the talk of doubts, plus the fact that Braga had awesome home record last season I had £50 on them to win

After cleaning up on world cup betting I`m hoping I continue this run into the new football season!

Wheres my % then :), seriously tho double up we will beat them comfortably at home with 2 up front, they really did nothing apart from the 3 set pieces, stick ur £50 on us, only problem is i dont see us keeping a clean sheet so we would need 5 goals to go thru and thats not happening i dont think

1Mills, did u trust me on the 2nd leg and bet us to win?? I went and was a cracking atmospere as per but again the 1st goal killed us.
I think 1 game apart pre season we lost the 1st goal every time. Cha was better, Mulgrew shocking again and Loovens is an accident waiting to happen, if Lennon doesnt know that the mexican is a central midfielder now theres no hope, he completely changed the game when he moved in, Fortune did well and caused them problems and Hooper looks a scorer which we need badly. Maloney is out injured again less than 2 games into the season and i think if it continues this will be his last season playing at a decent level.
Lennon doesnt seem to have learned from Mowbrays mistakes which scares the hell out of me, so far 7 players in and hes talking about at least 4 more, and unfortunately we need a keeper, left back and 2 center halfs desperately.
