World Cup Songs

jeffthegun (Elite) posted this on Friday, 7th April 2006, 11:29

I basically started this thread to emphasise how much I HATE Embrace.

Looks like another good year for the unnoficials.

Heres a hint: If you cant chant it on the terraces, it sucks as a footy song.

The only exception to the rule: World in Motion.

World in Motion has never been beaten yet in my opinion.

Not heard the Embrace one yet, i bet its really wet though knowing them?

My heart sank when they said Embrace... FFS *Embrace*?!

World in Motion is far and away the best offical song.

I read this - hehe I hope to god he`s serious:

Quote:
"Keith Allen`s been calling. I`ve been thinking about it. And Ian McCulloch`s been singing `Come on, come on, you f****ng England` to the Bryan Ferry song Let`s Stick Together.

"You take the backing track from that, stick McCulloch singing `Come on, come on, you f****ng England!` and Embrace can f****g suck my c***."

That would be cool apart from two things. Ian McCulloch and Keith Allen are two of the biggest f***nuts in the country.

Keith Allen especially. I would not p*** on the shifty eyed little teabagger were he a`had.

I, personally, think they should record my drunken terrace anthem `Rooney` sung to the tune of `let it be`

Rooney, Rooney,
Rooney, Roo-oo-ney
Scoring goals for England
Wayne Rooney.

Cant be worse than the Journey South cover.......

Alex James aggravates me... *but* the best bit would be if it caught on to the extent of "Three Lions" - what would the BBC do, cut to pre-recorded crowd noise?! :D:D:D

Most of them sound cheesy - we need another Anthem...

Having heard it now, it ain`t no anthem. No mention of England and football. It`s going to go down like a lead balloon. Have to pull out the old 12" of World in Motion to cheer myself up.

Was listening to Jonathan Ross` show on Radio 2 yesterday and he played a world cup song by Showaddywaddy called Hey England, Here we come Berlin! It`s sung to the tune of the band`s old hit Hey Rock`n`Roll. Anyone else hear it? I thought it was great.....much more terrace-friendly than World at your Feet!
