Region 0 retailers in the UK for imported horror, etc.
Hi all,
I am trying to a decent stockist of Region 0 films, such as Aliens, etc. As you all should know, the BBFC and/or the producers cut UK releases to obtain certain classifications, etc. Just compare Aliens SE region 2 to the region 1 version.
I would recommend monstermovies.co.uk, who stock some great imported Region 0 (region free) titles, such as Dutch Film Work`s Dawn of the Dead, Ring, Cannibal Holocaust, etc. The prices are above average and their range isn`t great, but so far the only other option I have found is to import from someone like www.lfvw.com which is more hassel than buying from mm direct.
Does anyone know of any other good companies stocking such DVD`s?
P.S. I do NOT have a multi-region player.

You may wish to look to region 4 for some of the titles which are dual coded for regions 2 and 4 (some are even 2,3,4,5 and 6).
And I`m not sure what you`re talking about regarding Aliens - as far as I know, the UK DVD was not cut, and :-

backs me up on that (a very reliable source).

Thanks for replying Rich.
As I said, both the BBFC can make cuts and recommendations and the producers can make cuts (or shorten the film) too.
Although Aliens: SE has not been cut by the BBFC, the Region 2 release is only 148min compared to Region 1 release of 156min. Refer reviews on this web site and others.
I have checked out some of the Region 4 suppliers, but most of them fail to state whether or not the disc is dual region. How can I find out without e-mailing them everytime (I am still waiting for an answer on Alien: SE from Ezy in Australia)?
But, as I said, there are a lot of movies that are heavily cut in the UK, such as Cannibal Holocaust. All of these the titles I mentioned are available uncut in region 0. Monster Movies are an excellent company, but I want to know of other such companies. As I said, I have only found Luminious Film and Video Wurks in US who would to export.
Please help anyone. I understand Anchor Bay are due to release the definative version of Dawn of the Dead (better than the DFW version) and cannot wait.

It looks like a nice little site, I`m gonna have to invest in that copy of the burning their selling.
I used to have a list of region 0 DVD and a lot of websites (ie Play) list region 0 as region 1.
If your into troma movies most of their stuff is region 0 (not including the terrible Digital Entertainment stuff)

Hugo
PAL R2/R4 movies run at a faster frame rate than NTSC R1 movies. So exactly the same film length will have a different running time by about 4% or so. This is usually referred to as `PAL Speed-up` .
Take the point `bout pre-cuts though. It`ll kill the industry eventually.
