Deliveries stolen at post office

Doing a quick survey. How many of you have had packages stolen/opened or not delivered in the uk? In the last month I`ve had 2 region2 ordereds from play247 arrived open and empty, plus a cd from them never arrived. Play247 are excellent about sending out replacements but that does not make it right, that some git at the post office had my stuff! Would be interesting to know how common postal theft is in the uk. It would also be good to know where you are to see if it`s a problem near to jersey or more local. I`m in newcastle.

I live in Washington and have had no such problems with my discs being nicked or the package opened as of yet.Ive got two discs on the way so I hope this does not happen to me.

Rattus, you need to retain the packaging and put in a claim for compensation with Royal Mail - give your local Post Office a spin for a compensation claim form, although I know that if the stuff isn`t registered/recorded you have about as much chance of wheedling any dosh out of them as I have of being able to wave my arms up and down after jumping off a cliff and to start flying...

However, it does a least make it official and perhaps bring any problems at the particular sorting office (whereever it may be - first one, on the train, end sorting office) and may (if enough people complain) force an internal investigation of some shape or form.

Good job Play247 are so cool about replacements really, isn`t it ?

Not related to DVD, but if you registered for this season`s Telegraph Fantasy Football, you got a free copy of Championship Manager 00/01.

Only problem was that most of the original batch of manager`s packs with the CD in (and they just came in a normal A4 envelope) went missing, and they had to send a lot of them out again.

I`m Chairman of our league at work and had a load of `em bangin` on at me about why they hadn`t got their packs - that explains everything, Rich.

You can ring up and get another pack. Meanwhile, I`m 50 points ahead because they haven`t been able to do any transfers yet - teehee :-)

i`ve just ordered a disc from play 247.com but as i`am aware they post by recorded delivery and someone needs to sign for it the other end,but after reading this thread i will inspect the package before signing it from posty.
i did once have a parcel from jungle.com that had been opened but there was only a heat sink and fan in there which obviously the thief did not want?

A package from under18 went missing during summer.

One package sent by gb.buy.com over a week ago using Royal Mail never showed up.

An in-movies DVD I once received took over a week - postmark was over a week old and the packaging had been tampered with. I wondered at the time if a postie took it home to watch!

PC and Car magazines I subscribe to have gone missing on a number of occasions.

I wonder if the problem is worse in and around London?

Rattus - Play send their stuff registered - so why are you signing for an empty jiffy bag?

I did not sign for it. It got sent back to the depot and onto play247 again. But that was thursday, so I`ve not received another yet and won;t for until next week now :o( The first one the silence of the lambs had been switched for some empty box and weakly re-sealed, so I did not know until I opened it again.

Mmmmmm, This is rather shady. I work for the Post Office. What I suggest is to contact RM and give them a rocket. The post office have internal investigation agents who pose as normal postal workers, These people are usually called up in the event of recorded or any mail being opened or stolen and workers caught taken stuff that isnt there`s will get such a hard time you wouldnt beleive it, The sack for a start, Then the real big time trouble starts. "Willfull Delay of Mail" is what has happened here and the Post Office doesnt take kindly to this, Its also a Criminal Offence punishable with a jail sentence.

So kick up a fuss!!!!!

Dusty.
