Ebuyer.. Good & Bad!

bigkahunas (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 8th April 2006, 13:21

I`ve used Ebuyer for over 5 years, since a few months after they started up i think, only ever had one problem before, which was when ordering some 80mm fans for my PC, they missed them out on the order - which i emailed and told them about, then after a bit of haggling they mailed me them out fine.

Now.. 2 yrs after that last problem, i bought a part for my PC, and they sent me the wrong one, fine i thought.. mistakes happened and sent it back.. only to be sent another wrong item!!

but something i`ve noticed, is the first Returns request was:
Wed March 29th -- RMA No. NTMIS4738** (masked on purpose)
now, the 2nd request i`ve done,
Sat April 8th -- RMA No. NTMIS4785** (masked on purpose).

so, within a week, they`ve had almost 5,000 items returned to them!
* Based on the RMA number being unique, and counting up +1 from the last RMA request, which would make sense as it`d be the unique identifier in the Database..

I`ll still use them in the future, but i think they need to re-train their staff! :)
Just my $0.02 for anyone to decide on whether to use them in the near future for their orders..

RE: Ebuyer.. Change in Shipping Policy??

I too have been using Ebuyer for many years.
I always tend to use the standard shipping option because they often send the items out earlier than the selected date and since they always seem to use CityLink next day I usually get the goods earlier than expected.

However, for the first time something different happened. I placed an order on Monday and selected standard shipping with a delivery date of Friday. I received an Order dispatched email just 24 hrs after placing my order but the tracking number didnt work on the CityLink site. When I chased the Ebuyer customer support the guy told me that the email meant that my order had been picked and was ready for despatch but had not been sent out yet. It would probably go out on Thursday for Friday delivery.

I checked the tracking number every day on the CityLink website and it was only recognised this morning and the status confirmed the order was only collected Thursday evening.

So, have they changed the policy to try and encourage people to get round the people like me who always select the cheaper option knowing full well that they probably gets the goods sooner anyway? If so, what a dumb idea!

My experience of eBuyer is mixed.

They mucked up one order with an opened product, but took it back, so worked out OK.

They mucked up another order with a damaged product, not their fault, but annoying none the less.

Then a few orders have been ok, for things like USB cables, memory cards etc.

So mixed feelings, but I keep going back cos they are so damn cheap.
