DVDIMPORT.COM - too good to be true? It seems so!

sportsmimic (Competent) posted this on Monday, 3rd September 2001, 09:39

I have recently been singing the praises of this company. They are very cheap and fairly quick, but to my horror, I received my credit card bill and they have taken money for all my pre-order, some not out until November! This comes to a few hundred pounds! I have e-mailed them and await a reply, but it is a bit worrying after what happened to video-now etc.
I phoned Goldfish and they say goods must be received within 60 days of payment taken out, but some of these films are not out in this time period!
Anyone have any ideas, comments, etc?

Not good news at all. I`ve just started to use DVD Import and received discs today. But the idea that they`d charge you for pre-orders is not good.

If you don`t get a reply from DVD Import in the next week or so, I`d take this matter up with GoldFish and dispute the items. Then drop a cursory email to DVD Import to tell them what you`ve done.

Sportsmimic, I can understand your frustration, I ordered Die hard Box set from them on 10 Aug, after 12days it still had not arrived, when I queried it, they told me they were out of stock, but they still manged to charge my CC!!

They confirmed that it was mailed on 24 Aug, but I haven`t seen it yet.

Bit gutted, Switch, as it looks like you placed your order after me, and received yours yesterday. Ho hum!

There is no doubt the Canadian sites are v.cheap, but I can`t be bothered to spend anymore days sitting under my letter box waiting day after day, (had the similar delay with DVDBO). I`m sticking to Play/futureent from now on!

Bry.

I ordered 3 DVDs to be sent by UPS from DVD Import. Only one DVD was sent by UPS. The full amount of the 3 DVDs were deducted from my credit card account. I wrote them several emails regarding my other two DVDs but they did not even reply to any one of my emails. The only way I could reach them was by phone. They told me that what they usually do is they sent the remaining DVDs which were not initially in stock by normal post. This method was not written on their website. I still did not receive these DVDs.

After several phone calls (my phone bill was more than the cost of the two DVDs), they told me that they were not liable to losses in the post. Even this was not written on their website although recently they included it.

I am still waiting more than 6 months to receive the last two DVDs. Beware of this site. Their behaviour is not very professional.

Bye.
Adrian

I spoke to them today, and they definately take your money when you order! May think twice before ordering many more. I know Adrian has had some problems - anyone else? So far I`ve received a few discs fairly quickly, and have paid for my next 25+ dvds already! The wife wasn`t too pleased!

UPDATE:
They def. take out money straight away, but they have been very good and even phoned me this morning!!
Have ordered more, as due to weak canadian dollar, prices have come down even more!
