Page 1 of Blockbuster online - garbage!!!
Retailer Reviews Forum
ive used a few online rental companies and these are by far the worsed ive used. im at the end of my free month and have no hesitation in cancelling!! i received no titles from the top of my list only the crap i had to pad the list out with. two titles got lost in the post, but through their site you can olny report one lost per month. ive sent numerous emails and had no response and theres no contact tel no. their customer service is appaling!! no doubt theyll end up debiting my bank account when the next biling date comes round as a film is still showing as outstanding...
"I`ve not seen someone taking a beating like that, since someone put a banana down my pants and set a monkey loose.."
I`ll have to disagree on this with regards to my own experiences:
Screen Select/Video Island: S***e. With them for 3 months. Not one top film from my list. 4 day minimum turn round of discs. Out of the 20 or so i got over half were scratched and wouldn`t play.
CDWOW Rentals: Worse than above - should just stick to selling them. Lasted a fortnight with them.
Blockbusters: Been with them now for over 6 months. Every top title I have had. Layercake, Old Boy, Hero plus many others I got the day after their release! Only had a couple of knackered discs.
I however find their search engine a bit crap.

RE: Blockbuster online - garbage!!!
Blockbusters have been the best for me. Best turnaround, fast replies to emails and a refund when you decide to cancel.
Ditto- I have first been with amazon then changed to Blockbuster and I have been with them for 3 months also and they have been good. I`ve seen All of Startrek TNG seasons 1,2,3 and 4 thanks to their posting times.
RE: Blockbuster online - garbage!!!
i`ve just cancelled mine after getting an email saying they didn`t have anything on my list to send.
it only had 60 titles on it >:( >:( >:(
RE: Blockbuster online - garbage!!!
Yes that was a major problem with Blockbuster.
Turnaround was great but when I had 60+ titles they told me I needed to add more and when I did they gave me the s*** titles I tucked in at the bottom, the ones I didn`t even want to watch but was forced to add.
I also recently received a letter from them about a title that went missing from the Post Office. The title was about 8 months ago, how do they expect me to remember? Am I supposed to fill it in?
RE: Blockbuster online - garbage!!!
I have had a free trial with Blockbuster and was very impressed - not one disc went missing or arrived damaged, turnaround was good but the new releases were not being sent out. I am currently with CDWOW/Lovefilm and am impressed after the first ten days; next up will be Screenselect (via dvd.co.uk) and then Tesco before deciding on a permanent rental provider.

Yesterday I got a really good chuckle. It seems as if Blockbuster is finally getting its dues. Blockbuster has always been the bane of the video industry, destroying independent video stores by the thousands, wreaking havoc on the infrastructure of home video distribution and pricing, screwing people out of their money with misleading and cheating business practices. In short, the company that former Taco Bell employee John Antioco created was never up to any good.
After years of muscling their way into the market and arm-wrestling their competition into oblivion Blockbuster had to take a few punches lately. First their borderline-fraudulent `No More Late-Fees` campaign got under scrutiny by General Attorneys across the country, then they had to bow out of their plan of a hostile take-over of their main competitor Hollywood Video. The thing that made me laugh, however, was yesterday`s announcement that corporate raider Carl Icahn announced plans for a hostile take-over of Blockbuster unless the board of directors agrees to certain terms that he dictates.
Now, I do not think that Icahn`s plans are nay better than Blockbuster`s strategies and practices, but I find it funny that Antioco may eventually have to go back to his tacos after all. And that is something many people in the industry would greet with a lot of applause. I guess the saying still holds true, What goes around, comes around - even for a corporate shark like John Antioco.
On a personal note , I applied for the `2 week free trial` with regards to there online DVD rental scheme and was instantly charged the £13.99! This took me into the red in mt bank account and as I was`nt getting paid until the following day I received a letter from the bank saying that I have to pay £40 bank charges which will be taken out of my account on the 25th April!!! >:(
I have e-mailed them various times and they claim that I must have pressed something wrong on their site (???) Basically they just done give a damn!
The above quote is little consolation!! :/
Theres one...set for stunk!!!

RE: Blockbuster online - garbage!!!
Blockbuster have totally screwed up the world of store rentals.
Before they got their greedy mits into the market, rentals were about £1.50, how they have pushed the prices up, I mean £3.75 for a rental? Utter rip off, they forced my local video store to raise their prices when they first came along and it was not long until my local closed down.
