DVD Import still free postage and very cheap

bargainhunt (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 22nd January 2005, 16:42

Must say I`ve used DVD Soon extensively, but since the changes I`ve found I`ve gone back to using DVD Import on the price searches. The multi region price checker frequently quotes them as the cheapest and they`ve got great ranges of all the latest boxsets like the North and South Collection, Miami Vice, and The Lone Gunmen with prices quoted.

Some goods have been a little delayed but preordering a few items so these should be easy for them to source. I did wait a bit for Quatermass 1 and 2 in the summer, but this was an old title. All goods have been received and they did respond to my emails.

If DVD Import have a flaw, it`s their site is a little funky when it comes to sourcing bargains. You have to do a bit of work! Other than that, top notch.

If you`re looking to pre-order an item, they usually ship it pronto. I pre-ordered a boxset which was released today, and they shipped it on the 21st. Highly recommended, especially in light of DVD Soon`s recent changes and their utter lack of consideration for the buyer when it comes to custom`s declarations (see other thread).

One of my most used R1 importers for `new` stuff.

EDIT: A word of warning though - they charge your card in CA$, so comparing the rates between the US$ (normally) stated and the pound won`t reflect a completely accurate price. I always set the currency to CA$ as soon as i arrive at the site, then use a separate excange rate calculator.

Of course, Matt - when you say "customs friendly", you mean they are known for their general goodwill towards employees of HM Customs..... ;)

Exactly, in the respect that they do not want to see those nice people overworked, therefore ensuring that packages need not be held for processing.

Very customs friendly.

Just got my Angel Season 5 boxset today. This may be the first time a season arrives on region 1 than 2, and at around £30 who needs to pay £60 in Smiths et al. They are very good in shipping orders for new titles. Now all I need is time to watch it, and not long before I get Miami Vice. Presumably that`ll be tomorrow, and need to save time before Hercules and Due South ship. That`ll give me an hours sleep, before I start the whole of North and South.

Orders seem to be about a week to ship, just a pity the emailing system does not seem to work. Whereas 2004 was predominantly DVD Soon, this year is DVD import year.
