Hey Guys
This is my first post here, so I`m hoping for a bit of help. Basically I`ve been scouring for a new mobile phone deal and took a look at the latest CPW catalogue. Take a look at Page 17, they offer a free Motorola V980 phone, with 200 inc. mins on Vodafone for £14!!!!
Went along to get it today, but they told me I couldn`t have it!
Is there anything I can do?, are they covered for cock ups in the catalogue?
Cheers guys, oh and keep up the good work.!

Yes.
Most definitely.
;) It can be posted in the correct forum! ;)
Seriously though, the offer in the catalogue is merely that - an offer. They are not obliged to sell you anything. Never mind, sure there must be lots of other deals around.

Thanks Nick
I told I was new here!!
Although in fairness, this IS an ABSOLUTE BARGAIN, if they sold it at that price.

If there is nothing in brochure that says "limited time only" or "while stocks last"
You could try insisting they give the offer to you as publisised ,tell them its false advertising or something ,but if it doesnt work hay ho ,another one will be along soon :D
Just dont get to obsessed with just try your luck ;)

tell them its false advertising or something This is one of the biggest missunderstandings of consumer law by consumers. As said above, the price you saw is what is called an "invertation to treat" This basicly means that you can ask them to sell you the product at that price (or any price for that mater.) but they have the right to say no. If they say yes to your offer then a verbal contract has been made and the shop is obliged to sell you the product at the agreed price. This is the same for in store. There may be some differences with the distance selling regs. Of course there are rules to stop me advertising everything at £1 and then saying "no" But if a mistake has been made in the ads then I am covered by the "omissions and errors act of 19something or whatever.
All the best,

It`s not easy being different. It`s not easy being cool....but somehow I manage....
