now heres an example of good customer service, just received and email from a company
Dear Mr XXX,
Much to our embarrassment we recently sent you an offer that you should not have received. As you probably know, upgrades to our latest products are carefully targeted to eligible customers and the PhotoPlus 9 offer priced at £29.95 should not have been sent to people who did not own an earlier version of this software.
As it was completely our mistake, we will honour any orders received before 12pm on Monday 6th December 2004, but after that we will have to revert to the correct eligibility criteria and close the offer to customers, like yourself, who should not have received it.
We are very sorry for this error and felt that an honest admission, plus the gesture of goodwill in honouring orders from people who had already decided to respond, was the fairest way to deal with it.
We assure you that you will still receive other great offers in the future - and that they get even better when you own more of our software!

I`ve also heard very good things about Serif products from my mate at work who is a long-term customer of theirs. He is very happy with both the service and the quality of the software - if you are tempted by the offer ..........

Funny that..., on about nice customer service....I got an order confirmation from Boots.com today. One of items they had apparently ran out of, and at the bottom of the order was this:
As an apology for cancelling this item, we will include a promotional code on the paperwork in your order that will entitle you to a 5 pound discount off your next order over 10 pounds. To use the code, simply enter it in the space provided on the Shopping basket screen and hit `update order`. Your order total will then automatically be amended to reflect your discount.

Looks like a marketing ploy by serif...
You can`t keep a good cynic down.
It is a marketing ploy. My Mum got the exact same email.
They used to phone me incessantly asking me if I`d like to buy this or that product after I (compulsorally) registered a free product of theirs. I got so tired of it I freaked out and basically told them to f**k off and stop bothering me. They didn`t call me again after that for some reason. The product was utter crap anyhow.
