Sorry for this being slightly off topic, but I would just like to know if anyone is experiencing problems with this package. Such as being charged for internet access (off peak) when it should be included in the monthly subscription. Please let me know.
Thanks
Jaxon
Actually, I have experienced no problems with BT`s off-peak Surftime package, which must me a first for that company! My ISP is Freeserve and I connect 99.9% of the time first time, and of course the old phone bill is a lot smaller....
Ditto - I use LineOne/BT Surftime - no problems at all. I think I`ve ony failed to connect on the first attempt about five times in six months, and even then it`s been okay on the second attempt.
No problems with screwy phone bills either. Darned good package for a tenner a month

RE: BT SURFTIME ! ! !
we have surftime at work - the `anytime` version via demon internet.
been using it for 6 months.
it stopped working a couple of weeks ago (wouldnt allow us to dial out)
and we contacted BT who were there usual pathetic useless incompetent selves - ie. we were transferred to BT internet after calling the fault line - eventually we got in touch with an engineer (the only people worth speaking to at BT) who discovered a fault with the exchange.
I`m on NTworld which is £15 month via a BT line and is ok.
all my experiences with BT have been bad and I`m pleased to see the way it is currently getting its come uppence on the stock market.
Had Surftime for ages - last 3 months they started to charge me for all the off peak calls - its taken me this long to get them to credit the "free surtime" back - albeit the credits appear after each new bill - then they add a new lot.... - they finally got it sorted this month - blamed it on the computer - ha ha - for not filtering out the numbers correctly - since then i have changed to the "Anytime Package" at £14.99 a month - works pretty good just a couple of times i have had the busy tone and the connection has been like walking through treacle - but i guess that is to be expected at peak times whatever isp you use!

Bingo ! This is what is happening to me at the moment. I signed up for Surftime, and they suggested i used Freeserve, Freeserve then supplied the 0844 (Free) number and i thought excellent.
That is, until my first bill arrived for £149 ! So the current situation is of BT and Freeserve blaming eachother with me being "piggy in the middle."
BT are claiming that my dial up number of 0844 is being defaulted to 0845 which is chargable !
Thereafter, I am trying to get some sense out of the clowns at BT who are totally useless. Apparently they are going to contact me in writing within 14 days (Why dont they just call me?) Which will be interesting, but they have more chance of seeing Jesus than getting me to pay up.
Thanks everyone for the posts.
as long as you have their dialler software loaded (bt), they dont have a leg to stand on surely - what is the number dialled shown on the bill? - luckily mine was the off peak number and they just collapsed with no struggle - good luck anyway!

RE: Jaxon
god, it makes me angry! BT are such a dinosaur and they`ve done their best to hold back the internet during the last few years.
whenever I`ve dealt with people at BT - they are uninformed, useless, obstructive and dont realise that they actually need customers to survive! doh!
Wouldn`t have happened when it was the GPO....In my day...(blah blah blah)
