DVD Pacific no longer customs friendly
Just received a boxset from DVD Pacific - cost £18.59 plus P+P and been stung by customs !!
I mean 59p over the limit and get hit for £7.26.
Assuming that was the actual conversion rate at the time of purchase I`m a bit pee`d off at being hit for another £7.26.
I realise of course that once you go over they then take the P+P into acount as well and charge you for the whole amount.
ARGGGHHHHH

You can correct that amount it was actually £18.09, I contacted the Customs Office and they say that even if it goes 1p over they charge you.
Not bad eh, cost me £7.26 including collection fees for 9p.

I noticed this for the 1st time on my Quantum Leap DVDs that came through the other week. Thankfully I didn`t get done by customs, but I`ll not be taking the chance again. A great shame as I really like this retailer, at the moment, getting all my R1s from them.

Have never used these before, I tend to stick with the CI based companies as they seem to include any VAT payable in their price and they always arrive without any problems.
Maybe this is down to pure luck!
However my luck did run out with splash as I had three orders that had been charged for prior to them stopping trading, so have had to wave goodbye to £40, have tried Blah but was not that impressed with the service.
The main reason for using thes sites are like most price as we all want the best on offer

When Customs hit you, do you have to collect the item or do they still deliver it?
I recently ordered a DVD set from DVD Pacific that was over customs limit but I have not received it for 2 weeks since dispatch.

From my experience you`ll get a card to tell you the depot`s holding your package (oo-er, missus) so you`ll have to go along there with your wallet.
I was nearly trapped this week, ordered two separate items which dvdpacific packed together and was probably a few pennies over the limit. Sorry you weren`t so lucky.
Though as one of my items was the Sledge Hammer season 1 8) , I`d have paid the charges with a grin on my face - for once.
RE: DVD Pacific no longer customs friendly
I have not heard from customs at all for over a week, is this normal or have my goods gone missing? Also if I do receive a card regarding my package (nudge, nudge, wink, wink), is it likely to be a local depot or they likely to do something stupid and send me halfway across the UK to pick it up?
Cheers fella
RE: DVD Pacific no longer customs friendly
It will be at your local POST OFFICE depot, same as if you`d not been at home to sign for a recorded delivery package, however it can take up to 3 - 4 weeks to come from USA, so maybe not through customs yet.
You won`t know if there are any fees to pay on it until the postie arrives and knocks your door with a demand for the taxes plus a £4 fee for collecting it.
If you aren`t in he will leave a card for you to go and collect at the local depot......better make sure you go and collect it otherwise you will be liable for the costs of returning it to the retailer !!
It is Consignia that is responsible for collecting the Customs fee hence the £4 fee for whatever amount they collect ( I think ).

RE: DVD Pacific no longer customs friendly
Mikeyb,
I ordered 3 DVD box sets. The first one was about £25.00 the other 2 were below £18.00.
I ordered the £25.00 one about one week before the two £18.00 ones, the two below £18.00 arrived on Monday but the £25.00 one which I ordered first has not made an appearance at all!
I`m worried that it may have got lost in the post as the royal mail has not contacted me. I shall be patient and wait. How long does it take the royal mail to check it, also how much am I likely to be hit if customs have got their greedy little paws on it?
Thanks
