R1 and Customs- any companies that resend from within EU?

JeffUK (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 10th June 2004, 06:44

Apologies to bring up the Customs issue again, but I haven`t ordered any over £18 R1 stuff since companies like DVDSoon and DVD Pacific stopped being Customs friendly. I know that when I ordered the Die Hard Trilogy back in 2000 I got it from Movietyme, and I think that they shipped into the EU, paid the duty and then sent it into the UK. I`ve got a feeling that DVD Boxoffice used to do a similar thing. Anyone know if they still do? I know Movietyme are more expensive, but it might be worth it to know the Customs issue is sorted when I come to order the Indiana Jones Trilogy and West Wing Season 2 at some point.

Cheers

Amazon.com resends from within the EU (Germany) but you still get the Customs charges.

DVDBoxOffice in Canada resends from Europe - they have free postage too and i have never had customs charges from them - downside is that they can be a bit slower.

Thanks for that- think I`ll use them, I`m prepared to wait and pay a bit more if they`ll pay the customs duty, save any nasty surprises. Anyone know about Movietyme?

Ta- but they`re more expensive than DVD Boxoffice or Movietyme! So does anyone know if Movietyme reship from within the EU having paid the customs?

I believe Movietyme ship from the US to the UK and then send it through the UK postal system so it is impossible to get Customs Charges with them but if you do happen to get charges they have said they will refund them.

Also, you might want to try www.futureent.com, they ship from inside the UK and they have better prices than Movietyme on some items, well they did on the Boxsets I wanted.
