Lost in post deliveries from PLAY.COM

Has anyone else had trouble with deliveries sent from Play and not arriving to you.
I`ve placed several orders and all seemed fine but the last two have gone missing.
Can anyone tell me why some arrive as recorded delivery and others not ?
It`s a bit of a give away to anyone as to the contents with the company logo & "custom information" plastered all over the packing.
Not geting much help from play on this one about recorded delivery, I don`t think emails are read very throughly.
Shame, it was good before this.
Cheers

Unfortunately when using the Royal Mail your not guranteed 100% that your get items will be delivered even with Recorded Delivery.

I`m sure theft within the Royal Mail plays a big part in this as some of the sorters soon cotton on whats inside packages and decide it`s for them

When I first started using Play back in 99 everything was recorded delivery but I think now only the latest R2 releases are RD as they must be cutting their costs back

I guess I`m lucked when ordereing DVD`s as none have gone missing yet

I would suggest you also complain to Royal mail

I`ve had 2 lost packages from Play, but each time I e-mailed them and they sent out replacement discs within 24 hours. The only thing is, you have to wait 14 days before saying anything to Play.

Better than DVDBO. 2 months I think you have to wait for them to do anything.

I think they only use recorded delivery on R2 releases and only if the value of the DVD is above a certain amount. Mind you having just checked I find that Matador at £12.99 was recorded and Dead or Alive was not so possible difference on profit margin as the latter was a preorder new release.
The only problem I`ve had with them so far was this morning where, as well as Lexx 2.4 turning up from MVC a copy of Viva Dangermouse turned up for a second time so i`ll wait a few days to make sure they haven`t charged me twice as well then send it back.

I don`t know why Play bother with Recorded Delivery - unless they want to prove that their customers have actually received something to stop them claiming something has not arrived. Recorded Delivery is just the normal post with a signature on delivery. It travels with all the normal 1st or 2nd class mail and has no other special treatment.

It hasn`t stopped my copy of Fawlty Towers going missing. I actually find it a right pain that because Play uses Recorded, I have to wait in for the postman or face a trip to the Sorting Office. If the price is the same I will always use a reliable alternative supplier if possible because of this.

CD`s usually come regular post.

Whenever play send me a first DVD not recorded delivery, it never arrives.

Replacements do arrive, usually sent as not recorded. Funny eh?

Or alternatlively, if you talk nicely to your postman he might sign for the delivery himself and post it through your letterbox. Defeats some of the point of recorded delivery but it does save you a lot of messing around.
