Page 1 of PS3 headsets

Possibly stupid question but....

Does a bluetooth earpiece for PS3 have to be one designed specifically for that machine or are any of the hundreds available for phones useable?

My lads has disappeared into that same void mostly inhabited by single socks and half chewed biros.

No it doesn`t have to be a special one. I`ve just got my very old Motorola one (HS801?) working with my PS3

the official sony one is v comfy and works with newer mobiles to it also has a great battery life and fast recharge time.

My son hammers it for a good 6hr session and its still got half its charge left.

My lads was the Giotech which worked fine and didn`t seem to give any problems.

I know that it is only 14.99 but there are ordinary ones as cheap as 7 or 8 quid and if they do the job as well I don`t fancy wasting as much again just because it`s advertised as for the PS3.
Like most people funds are hard to comes by these days.

i used to use a cheap £6 on from ebay, worked fine.

Why do I bother.
While I`m on here trying to find a way to save a few bob his mum takes him out shopping and buys another 15 quid one.
Thanks for the input though folks. When he loses or breaks this one I`ll be quicker off the mark. :/
