Page 1 of Laptop To TV
PCs & Mobiles Forum
Hi
I wonder if anyone could help me. I think I`m being a little thick.
I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D7830 (don`t laugh), which has S-Video connection on the back. I have brought a S-Vid to Scart cable, plugged them into laptop and tv. And nothing happens!! I have tried all the Video/AV settings on the tv
The laptop is running with Radeon Mobility 9000. I have gone into the software to try and change the output. But nothing seems obvious!
I have opened Display Settings -> Settings -> Advanced -> ATI Outputs
I`m then given 3 options - Laptop Panel, TV panel and Monitor Panel..
I have tried to activate the TV panel. But it never comes alive. If I plug a monitor into the VGA connection in the laptop, the monitor panel jumps to life!
Is there something I am doing wrong? Or is the cable knackered? (i have no other means of testing)
Thanks in advance
I have a Dell laptop with S-Video out also. However, I never managed to get mine working either.
It also uses the ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 chip, and there is supposed to be something within the ATI control panel that lets you `switch on` the TV output. Never was able to find it.
I eventually got an LCD TV so it became a bit of a non-issue!
I do have a VGA->Composite adapter sitting in the drawer at home though...used to use that on the old old laptop (max 800x600 resolution).
Thanks for the info, buddy.
Looks like the cables going back to the shop.
I have a laptop with tv output but with the manufacturers drivers could never get it to work. ATI dont make the drivers for all laptops but you can get a program that will customise an ATI setup and allow it to run on a laptop to get the latest drivers. This might fix the issue, it fixed mine.
Unfortuneatly I cant find the site I used before and cant remember the program, but it takes the ATI driver, mods some .ini files and allows you to install on any laptop.

Check that the scart bit on your tv can take incoming s-video connections. On my TV that cable has to go into the scart 1 ext or it won`t work full stop.
Or if you have s-video on the tv you could get a cable to try that.
If it is not to late,
First conect the laptop to the TV with an S-video cable
On the TV select the S-video input.
Move the mouse pointer to some where random then right click,
from the list choose personalise
In the top left corner choose projector or external display
Now click conect display
Job done
