Page 1 of uTorrent using all my memory?
PCs & Mobiles Forum
Hi,
I have been using uTorrent for years and think it is pretty good although it still slow
ed down my PC a bit.
But recently after i re-formatted my laptop, utorrent uses up just about all my memory....
The PC is very very slow to use and webpages never load up first time, i need to refresh them a couple of times.
I have a duo processor and 1gb or ram and it runs fast when not using uTorrent.
I know to expect some slowdown when uploading but this make the computer unusable.
Is there any settings in uTorrent that i can use to help with all this memory guzzling?
Cheers!
Prob the upload settings, have gone to to default, check them out. though depends on how you want your ratio. Just have a look preferences, connections, and upload. And change the upload to something that your pc usage finds acceptable but enough to keep your ratio up.

Which version of utorrent? 1.6.1?
The thing about utorrent is it`s great for the opposite reason - it uses basically no system resources..

Hi,
I am using 1.61 at the moment....have also tried the beta.
I have just tried Azureus and Bitcomet there to upload at my full speed and it doesn`t hog the memory like uTorrent....but i prefere the uTorrent interface.
When i browse websites using uTorrent.... all sites need refreshed 1-2 times before the page is displayed, the two torrent clients that i have just tried are not nearly as bad.
Maybe its something to do with NTL upgrading at the moment?
Cheers!

ive just started to use ut, so far its been very good. but a few days ago it started playing up a little. i didnt get any green network sign at all, always the yellow or red symbol. i hadnt altered anything on the router so couldnt figure out why it had just stopped connecting. i have managed to get the green symbol but its just gone again.
also the internet is very slow. i know whilst im using ut it will be a bit slower but some webpages are taking a long time to load, and most of the time not at all, even getting google to open takes a while. ive tried setting up the router again, but i cant always get the router admin page to load up. i did think it could be the internet provider, im with virgin media, rather than my pc,especially as i hadnt changed anything. bit annoying to say the least.
i have exactly the same problem - also with Virgin Media.......i just do any downloading at night now :/

Companies that have p**sed me off so much that I will never use them again and I hope you dont either....
Jacks Fish & Chips of Cambridge ridiculously overpriced and overpackaged chips. £1.20 for a stupidly small portion of chips - they need to go up north for a good lesson in fish and chips
Alloy Bodies of Manchester - The Grand Daddy & Benchmark for shockingly poor customer service.
Capital Bank Leasing who are part of [B]BOS & are f**ing useless & struggle to action the smallest request but are fantastically efficient at taking money out of my account
[B]Abbey National Absolutely diabolical service - how hard is it to change £60 of coins into notes????
....more coming soon no doubt.....
i did a bit of searching, and have altered one of the settings. for the past few days the internet seems to be ok whilst using utorrent, not as quick as when im not downloading, but a lot better than it was the other day. i dont know if that was the only reason its running better but it seemed to go quicker after id done it.
am i ok to post what i altered?
cheers
Yeah - but I thought skirpy`s problem was with memory - not internet speeds......

fair enough, but the post does mention about webpages not loading up properly. apart from the net, i also had some trouble with my pc in general, opening folders etc would take a lot longer than usual. and since making a few alterations things dont seem too bad.
all i did was lower the global max connections whilst i am surfing at the same time as dl, i had it over 200, but i lowered it to around 150 instead. i dont know if that is why the pc is running a bit better, but i think it must have helped.
