I`m having a real problem and need some help please. I can listen to any file via media player/quick time etc (mpeg,mp3,mp4 etc) However... No sound on any IE webpage !! so no viewing trailers, no youtube nothing !! Now I find I cant burn any mpeg to dvd or dvd file etc coz the sound won`t transfer !! Help !!! I can`t reinstall XP coz I don`t have the discs. I have restored to a previous point but same problem.

In IE, have you tried Tools>Internet Options>Advanced....
Scroll down to Multimedia part and see if `Play sounds in web pages` is ticked??

Try a different internet browser?

yeah, when played on any device !! Is this just a particular problem with .xvid files tho ?? i cant convert to mp4 and keep any sound, but can mpeg an .avi file and keep sound.
