How can you search for a Router on a laptop?
I have got a New Toshiba A100-147 laptop with built in wfi. It is on Windows XP media.
I am no good at computers.
I already have a Linksys wireless router ( on NTL cable) supplying internet access to another pc via a USB wireless adapter.
I would like to connect this laptop (using its built-in wi-fi to the same Router also, purely for internet access , but I do not know how to.( as the other PC has USB adapter & the supplied cd driver was used to install the USB adapter. Can somebody please guide me step by step to search for this router & connect to it?
Thank you.

Basic questions how have you set the router up?
Hidden the router broadcast identifier? If yes you wont`t see it, when you search.
Used encryption? If yes you won`t be able to connect even if you do see it
Used MAC filtering? If yes you need to add your wireless network adapter`s MAC address so the router will allow it to communicate with it & the internet.
If yes to the first two then you need to manually create a profile & fill in the details in order to see the router before you can use it.

or put another way did you go through any process of setting up security via a setup cd supplied with the router or did someone else do it for you.
I assume that there is an icon in the system tray on the laptop indicating presence or not of a network connection which will say something like no available wireless networks detected if you hover the mouse pointer above it (there is as default on a friends dell laptop.
