ISP recommendations please!

jeffthegun (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 15th January 2006, 10:37

Im moving house soon and, even though im only moving about 10 miles, NTL dont cover our new house, so ive got to bin the whole lot and start again. Sky is a given, but NTL have been my only broadband provider so im not too clued up on BB providers over a BT line.

So Best and Cheapest ;) recommendations please!

Looking for 1mb as an absolute minimum, ideally uncapped but a minimum of 30gb per month. Yeah..I know...I dont want too much.....;)

Well i have been with Pipex for some time now. I get a good service 1Meg download (would be more if my phone line could handle it) and i don`t have to worry about how much cos there is no limit. Its the Pipex 1000 package i am on its £19.99 for the first 6 months and then £23.99 after that. You can pay monthly, quarterly or yearly. Hope this helps.

That onetel is actually looking pretty tasty. Our phonebill usually 15 - 20 quid a month on evening and weekend calls, so that would actually hammer the broadband down to a tenner.

Cheers chaps!

On the OneTel one, for an extra £1 a month I think it is, calls abroad are cheaper at all times. I only pay 3 pence a minute on calls to Oz.

Look at ADSLGUIDE and see what people think on the forums.

I personally have been with Eclipse for several years, with a few outages, but generally a good service. A word of warning, keep well clear of tiscali as I have heard negative comments from friends on mutiple occasions (one of which had his service restricted after 3 days after running windows update on 2 computers as 600mb is too much over that period).

I left Pipex went to F2S (freedom 2 Surf), because they were better value for money and support. Pipex then went and purchased them :/

How about getting something like F2S and your phone calls via www.call1899.com (their sister company www.call18866.com) see their tarrifs here. Look here

You basically pay 3p per connection (or 4p per connection with 18866) UK landline calls are free so will only cost you 3p for 1 hour call :) .

But beware, you don`t get notified if the connection rate changes. It used to be 1p about 2years ago. Theres other threds on them if you search DVDR.
