Page 1 of Wireless PC connection to Internet - Help*

Hi

The missus is getting sick of me trailing a phone-line across the living room to connect to the internet. I was therefore wondering if anyone knew of a cheap device that connected to my phone point and another to my pc that would allow me to go on-line? Perhaps it would work something similar to my Dect phone. I have not got broadband and don`t need a wireless router as we only need 1 PC for the house.

I would be most grateful for any help in this regard.

i saw a bluetooth 56k modem at the computer fair yesterday, that should do the trick, tho, tbh i`ve never seen them before that, so i dunno where you`d get one from (also, range could be an issue, some bluetooth devices only work upto 10mtrs, walls etc can cut that down to 3/4mtrs.

Ogster, is this bluetooth device one that connects to a router. Surely it can`t be a modem as bandwidth on bluetooth is very low.

no it was a standalone device, but as we are only talking about dial up i wouldn`t imagine the low transfer speed would a huge issue (pretty sure bluetooth`s faster than 56k) tbh, i didn`t pay a massive amount of attention to it, it only caught my eye because i`de never seen one before, but it was deffo a modem & was bundled with a standard bluetooth dongle.

Thanks Ogster, the 50k Bluetooth modem is just what I need. I have found a few through Google although they are a bit pricier than I`d hoped but there you go.

The missus will be happy, ta again.
