Epson printer - end of service life...
I`ve got an RX500 that has just stopped working with an error message that parts within the printer are at the end of their service life. This sounds suspiciously like a neat way of stopping my printer so I have to pay to get something reset. Any ideas on how to avoid getting it `serviced`?

Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn...
And those who dance will spin and turn,
And those who wait will wait no more,
And those who talk will hear the words,
And those who see will fade and die,
And those who laugh will surely fall,
And those who know will always feel their backs against the thin wall...

Have you tried the SSC Service Utility for Epson Stylus Printers?

Not yet, found it while googling last night but unsure as to how safe it was, so I thought I`d mention it here first...

I`ve seen this a while back and it was regarding a sponge that needs changing/cleaning. Mostly caused by turning on an off all the time (it does a head clean each time and uses ink). You can take it apart and change/clean it. Also seem to remember there was something you could reset. Google should reap lots of reward.

Didn`t need to use it in the end. Had a quick look through their forums via the link provided on that page and the tool won`t rest the RX500. However, it does give instructions on how to reset the EEPROM which was very very simple and took only a couple of minutes.
Hey presto, printer works again...
