Freedom2surf - Your comments please

niteowl (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 22nd September 2005, 14:36

I`m looking to change ISP and came across Freedom2surf up to 8Mb line and 2Gb cap for £14.99 pm including free migration (with MAC code). url="http://www.freedom2surf.com/"]http://www.freedom2surf.com/[/url]
Nelliboy also suggested adsl4less on another thread (they`re £11.99 for 2Mb) I was wondering how they compare?

Cheers Niteowl

ps: Eventually got through to Pipex (after 3 days of trying!). When I threatened to leave them, they offered me 2Mb line/15Gb cap 1 yr contract for £14.99 (instead of their usual £27.99) but I turned it down due to their rc[at]p customer service and that I hardly use any Gb`s.
My MAC code on the way Yippie! :) :) :) (they said it would take 72 hrs to activate)

I have migrated to them for a few months now, I would say they are ok/average.
Lots of their users in www.adslguide.org.uk claim f2s to be really good, and very supportive in slagging off other dissatisfied customers - which I don`t like.
Their support will `selectively` answer simple queries in the forum - BUT they will stay quiet when something goes wrong.

Pay the extra few quids and go with BT!

I was warned off BT a few months back .Are you saying they have improved?
Gbee How come you went with f2s instead of BT? I`m being nosey :D

You never know until you have joined!
Well, at the time I was impressed by all their customers reviews and their price.
But when I had a problem (download speed crawling at 5kbps) and reported a problem with them - their reply was `check your hardware and try replacing your microfilters`.
At the time, MANY users were complaining of the same problem in the forum, the support took the easy option of `try changing your filters`.. eh? you mean everyone who has reported the same problem to check their filters?

Workplace is a reseller for F2S, cant say we`ve had any problems with them... and we use them for our own internet and ftp servers aswell. Only issue we`ve had is that BT are currently not allowing anyone to connect from a BT account to the server.

8Mb and a 2GB cap?! That`s less than an hour of solid downloading at 8Mb, spread over a month that`s nothing.

Look into what the penalty charges are for going over the limit.

At the moment I`m hardly doing any downloading, but think its £1.50 per extra 1GB per month if you need more. They also do 8Mb and 10Gb cap for £19.99.

Thanks for comments
