Laptop connected to mobile phone via Bluetooth

Hi
Got a Sony S700i and a Sony laptop VGN-A317M. Currently using bluetooth to dial-up the internet, anybody use or know any better (or cheaper) way to get faster reliable net access.

Bit of a difficult question to answer, as it depends on where you use the laptop. The only alternatives are to buy a 3g datacard which will save going bluetooth to the mobile, but will essentialy be the same solution - it will give you a quicker connection, but cost more.

The alternative is to connect via a conventional network. that means that you need either a wifi card/usb stick which will allow you to connect at various wifi hotspots or to a wireless network in your home / office if you have one. or to get a cable and simply plug it into the network but that ties you to a desk somewhat. (unless you have a very long lead :D )

Of course you could get a usb modem and connect directly to the phoneline, either dialup or broadband.
