Page 1 of please help! VCD / avi question

i have an avi that is 699mb. Is there a way to just put this on a disc and play on my dvd player as a vcd or scvd or whatever without converting anything?

No,not unless your dvd player plays avi files, VCD and SVCD need to be made from mpegs.

As Dirk says unless you have a DIVX player you can`t.

I don`t so I use Nero Burning CD (and WinONCD, so I`m guessing most CD burning progs) to convert it to play as a vcd.

Just create a vcd using the wizard as you would an mpg, then prepar to wait as it does the conversion. mpg doesn`t need to be converted but that size avi take hours, i.e. I leave it goign overnight or while I`m at work.

However, the time length of the file needs to be less than 80mins. so if you have a 2hr movie you`ll need to make it 2 1 hr ones with something else. and then make 2 vcds

It`s all a lot of hassle hence I`m thinking about buying a divx player!
