Do any of you guys know what a ~ file is by any chance.
It keeps appearing on my PC C: at random intervals and I have not got the foggiest what it is.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The tilde (~) file is to do with backup of the Windows address book. It only happens under certain scenarios, see this site for more info. Here`s another site too. :)

MS Word generates a temporary file with a ~ prefix when you open a document. The file is deleted when you close the document.
