Page 1 of jumpy graphics

hi what does it mean i during game play you freeze up for a split second making game play jumpy! try several games and it happens on all tried changing graphic card settings but still no joy!! please advice Thanx dug

p4 2.53ghz
asus m/b p4s8x-x
tachyon radion 9600 pro graph card 128mb
120 h/drive
1024mb ram

use ctrl/alt/del & see if anythings running in the background, failing that try re-installing the drivers, also if it`s a problem thats ocurring on a previously trouble free setup, check and see if you`ve had any automatic updates (xp) if so delete them & see what happens.

Are you running anything else at the time? e.g. P2P software like Kazaa/eMule?
If so, could be a disk access problem
