Well I seem to have unlocked it now but it won`t accept my O2 genie PAYG sim.

I`m puzzled.

Do I need to phone O2 to validate my sim before I insert in the phone?

This is not needed at all.

What does the phone say on it when you insert your O2 SIM card?
Also which settings did you use to calulate the unlock codes and how many codes have you tried to use up to now?

Well, when I insert the sim, the phone turns on and I get the orange welcome screen and then there is nothing on the network coverage bar and after a few seconds the screen just goes blank.

The phone is already unlocked becuse I remmber using the codes last time to unlock it and this time when I used the code it said something about the phone already been unlocked.

I used the DSC4 unlock settings.

I guess when you tried the code the second time, it will have said "SIM not restricted" or "SIM restriction off" or somthing slimler.

If this was the case, I cannot think of anything else as the phone is definatly unlocked.

Only case where unlocking by codes go wrong is when you have the SIM card in whilst entering the code. so if you had took the SIM card out, then I don`t think you will have damaged the phone in that respect.

Have you tried the SIM card in another phone?

I also have a Nokia 8210e on Orange but I really want to use my 6600 which is why I unlocked it. I don`t know why the screen goes a blank after a few seconds when I put my O2 sim in.

Still no luck on my 6600.

Isn`t Westy around?

I`m sure he would be able to tell me what`s wrong.

If someone has entered the incorrect code more that 5 times your looking at a cable unlock, a Nokia Magic clip is the best way to go.

If your phone was already unlocked there wouldn`t have been any need to unlock it again.
Also I believe the 6600 isn`t a dct4 it`s actually a symbian.
The best place to post this question is in the nokiafree forum
